Problem with Lamp and Moderator

    Hello All
I recently bought myself a .220 swift for foxing, and mounted a Lightforce 170 on the scope. This is the first time I've used a scope mounted lamp. All my previous lamping was done with a second person holding the lamp. The problem I'm having is that the light is reflecting off the moderator into the scope!:( I tried covering the mod with a sock but its not much better, half the scope is a blurr. When i take the mod off i can see perfect!
Any advice to cure this would be much appreciated:)
    Cheers MKC1

Some lads make a sort of light tube/cone that fits on the lamp and funnels the light, think I saw someone's post with a flowerpot on it

Havnt had to do it myself but I'm sure someone who's dealt with the problem will be along shortly :)

Tape over 2"~ of the bottom of the lamp which beam is catching and reflecting off the Mod

    Or Buy a P7 Led Lenser:D

Dont worry MKC1 that sock will kill the fox before you fire the swift. The blurr is probably the sock finally getting some fresh air.:D:D:D

I take it you mean to tape off the bottom of the lamp. Would that not dramatically cut down the lamps range.

you could also mount the lamp as far back on the scope as you can, the top of the scope might then shadow the mod. hope you get what im trying to say

No 'cos the bottom of the lamp is the top of the bean of light that you see, sorta crosses over as it reflects out from the lamp.

Sock trick allways worked for me, and now I have camo tape over the end of the mod and wrapped around the sides.

Seen the flower pot work well as well. Put on backwards so the pot acts like a funnel and kept on with duct tape. Cheap and easy to do.

Sock didn't work for me either. Flowerpot worked to a degree, but looked ridiculous and was cumbersome. So, the solution is twofold.

First is the position of the lamp bracket on your scope, start the process by moving that as far back towards the butt as you can on the scope. Second is to experiment with a bit of electrical tape. Don't put any tape onto your scopes lenses, sticky stuff isn't good there. This is what mine looks like, lightweight, cheap, and I never loose it or forget to bring it with me.

Hello bud. Cancel those mounts. I just taped my lightforce lens up as advised earlier and its unbelievable the difference it made. Its as if you were lamping with the mod off.I have a 140 lamp and i put 3 widths of insulation tape on the lens and it has no effect on the beam at all.Try it and it'll save cost and having to re-zero your rifle.
