hey guy's,been a long time since i have been cycling,i used to do some hardtail downhill but got out of it due to work,im now trying to get back into it.iv a mongoose tyax elite small frame,i dug it back out and frame is perfect but my wheels are missing(prick brother doing in axel bearings robbed them and then dumped the bike) iv 2 26" wheels here but there for a bike with shoe brakes and not disc's,can they be converted or do i have to have disc specific hubs?? im dying to get back into it but this is quickly turning me off again

    all help appreciated

    thanks

If the bike is disc brake only, then you will have to have hubs on the wheels that can take rotors. They either do, or they don't. There is no way to attach rotors to hubs if they were not originally designed to take rotors.
You can have wheels that can be used on either brake system - with hubs that accept rotors and with rims that have brake tracks.
A set of disc compatible wheels won't be huge bucks (you should be able to pick up a pair for under the ton)
