    thanks alot

I assume your looking at courses and wondering what the difference is between them. The main difference will probably be the specialist areas that are covered in the final 2 years.

as far as i know electronic deals with circuits and microprocessers and the like (phones, computers and other consumer electrics) while electrical deals with stuff like power grids and transmitting power over long distances

The terms have changed over the last number of years, so stuff that was in Electronic engineering is now classes as electrical engineering. Depending on the role both qualifications may well be interchangeable, although the finial years of different programs will have slightly different focus (eg different major subjects available).

    Electrical Engineering
    Control Systems
    Power Systems
    Power Electronics

    Electronic Engineering
    Telecommunications
    IC Design / VHDL
    Software Development

The course I completed was Electrical and Electronic engineering and you could choose major / minor subjects from any of the above.

Look up the course content for each year and choose the one you think you'd be most interested in.

    thanks all

but does it make difference in the work when u graduate ?
i mean what kind of jobs am going to work on ?

    Electronics

as posted, will be stuff like s/w programming (embeddeed, c, java)

    h/w (verilog/vhdl)

    and them pure electronics topics.

microprocessors, networking, communications, solid state electronics...

it will have lots of lots of math (vgs-vt etc), so if you dont like math move away...

you can get any job you wish with a pure electronics background, not that they are easy to get mind you.

ie: embedded design, hardware desgin, vlsi layout, back end or front end design, support and technical roles.

    Electrical Engineering

dont do this but it will be mainly power electronics, and the national grid, smart energy, turbines, renewable energy.

power supply design is huge now mind you

good power supply design engineers could get a job if they walked to an interview naked and sang the nationl anthem while sipping some guinness.

I think its important to mention that the basic theoretical grounding in both electronic and electrical engineering has massive overlap, hence why most courses have a common 3 years and then specializations in 4th year. It would be possible for someone with either degree to cross into the other discipline with a little self determination or with something like a one 1 year masters.

For example I've chosen Electrical engineering as my specialization but this semester I am also studying analogue electronics design and signal processing.
