Quick defrag questions

Have had my laptop 16 months and never defragged the C drive. I ran the defrag tool yesterday and it analysed the drive and said there was 3% fragmentation. My first thoughts were "Great 97% OK" but I'm wondering is 3% a lot in the scheme of things? Should I defrag it or wait? Thanks for any help! :)

I don't think 3% is a lot, but it shouldn't hurt to give it a try.

Afaik from Vista onwards it defragments automatically once a week.

3% means you do not have to do anything. I'm on Windows 7 and it appears to do it automatically as the previous poster said because when I check everything looks ship shape.

+1 - 3% is not a problem. However, if in doubt just defrag. It won't do any harm and you can keep using your PC while it's going on.

Fragmention gets worse the more you install and uninstall things on the computer.
As said, you can defrag anyway if you like. It won't hurt.
