We need to get our 22 month old son a passport and obviously we need to bring photos. We haven't tried the automatic ones but can't imagine him staying still for the shots. Has anyone any suggestions as to how to do this or where (if in a proffesional studio) in South Co. Dublin please?

A number of chemists will take the photo and size it correctly for a passport application.

The passport office are pretty strict about applying the criteria for photos so you should probably have a read of them.

Alternatively, you could go to http://www.epassportphoto.com/ and upload a digital picture and adjust it and print it yourself. I played with this service last year or so and it seemed to be pretty good.

I'l second the chemist route - Got the local one to do mine (he also does the photo processing etc) and he was really good. Got my little boy perfectly at the second attempt and size it perfectly.

I helped a friend to get some of her 8 month old, in the end we put her lying down on a sheet on the floor! She got that passport,so that must be OK.
