Anything slightly related to Will & Grace being attached to a TV/Film severs all interest interest for me.

I can't see it working Moe, Larry, Curly, Shemp and Joe were very unique and special I can't see anyone every coming close to there talents. Buy The Complete Shorts box set and will agree with me.

I don't mind Sean Hayes: for example, I hardly recognised him in The Bucket List, where his character was the quiet, competent assistant who stood up to Jack Nicholson's character's excesses while not kowtowing to him. He can do understated if necessary, though that wouldn't be the case in a Three Stooges film, would it?

The Three Stooges was the name of the film and it was a TV movie as a great fan I didn't think its was a great film due to several inaccurate parts but all biopic films are like that aren't they but its worth seeing for one reason and thats Michael Chilkis playing Curly its a fantastic performance.

Oh and Mel Gibson produced it.

    From USA Today:
    stoogesx-large.jpg
The comedy is not a biopic but instead is shot in three segments in the style of their film shorts from the '30s and '40s and places the trio in contemporary times as they struggle to save the orphanage where they were raised. The Farrellys, known for R-rated ribaldry, have vowed to keep the humor at a PG level. But with Larry David as a vindictive nun, an appearance by the kids of The Jersey Shore and even that hunky Old Spice guy in the cast, the slapstick should still run amok.

Will and Grace is execrable IMO (and his shtick in it is annoying) but i agree with you about him being able to act.
He nailed his part in Scrubs where he plays a conscientious and seemingly perfect junior doctor who burns out under the pressure.
    One of my favourite episodes.

As for him in The three stooges, i dunno.

I'm focusing on the "Larry David as a vindictive nun" to try and be even remotely optimistic about this.

The Jersey Shore "appearance" doesn't necessarily imply an endorsement. We might get to see them fed in an IKEA factory and turned in to sideboards.

Now, while it does look like it's going to be absolutely terrible I gotta admit that I'm a fan of slapstick and did chuckle a couple of times at the eyepokes etc. (I think I'd still rather take one of those eyepokes rather than seeing the actual full film though). Watching the trailer though my main thought though was that I can't wait to see the uproar that all these pussy parents groups in the US will kick up.

My main thought was 'Why in the f***ing f**k did they put those halfwits from MTV in there?'. Looks horrendous.

Rightfully, this gig should've been handed to Sam Raimi. He's a monster Stooges fan which he incorporated their slapstick into the Evil Dead movies.

Just announced that Eddie Murphy will play all roles.

I strangely find myself repeatedly watching the trailer. :pac: I think the reason for this is that the individual performances actually look quite good, but it just seems so out of place. It doesn't "fit" so to speal.

Hey, look on the brightside, this is bound to push sales up of DVDs featuring the original Stooges, and ultimately is that not a good thing?

Yeah. Watching that trailer certainly got me thinking of buying them.
    Also: Sofia Vergara looks unbelievable.

Trailer #2 is out. Subtle, it ain't.

Looks entertaining in a stupid sort of way but I still can't see myself sitting through 90 minutes of it.
    Also: Sofia Vergara looks unbelievable.

    Kate Upton looks better

Considering that the budget was estimated to be 40 million when Sean Penn, Jim Carrey, and Benicio Del Toro were cast I'd imagine that this can't have cost more than 15-20 million tops. It's not going to take much for them to make their money back on this, marketing has been non existent so this is really not much of a risk for the studio.

This looks like pure and utter rubbish, the kind of sh*te that would make me fire the box out the window in frustration. :pac:

Got a sneak peak at this today and rather enjoyed it. It's 90 minutes of pratfalls and people getting poked in the eyes which may not be subtle but is a lot of fun.The performances are very good and you do feel that they deserve a film with a little more depth.

    No.
    Just no.

When I see the trailers, I give myself a little face palm and think, "is this how few original ideas there are nowadays that Hollywood remakes the Three Stooges?"

The rancid, deplorable kind of **** sandwich.

The actors playing the Stooges actually do a good job capturing the essence of the characters. It's everything around them that stinks. The comic timing is constantly off, and doesn't seem to know quite who its aimed at. The pop culture references - ****ing Jersey Shore! - are particularly grating.

The Farrelley's get the sounds and look right from time to time, but the whole film feels wrong, and even Larry David in drag cannot save it.

This comment was funnier than the two trailers combined.

Could just be me but I don't think slapstick works on that level anymore, then again it's a rare comedy that makes me laugh anyway.

I liked this. I guess I'm a lover of plain silly slapstick and I'm a sucker for any moment in any film where they pull out some of the stooges classics. I watched it as if it was a tribute show. Sure the original band is always much better but sometimes you get a tribute act that are good enough for you to enjoy and actually remind you of the real deal and this was the case here for me.
One for a day when you're nursing a hangover imo!
