PS3 Suicide

Ok, so obviously my Ps3 did not commit suicide but it did fall from about 3 feet onto a marble floor and now it is not working.

It will turn on, it will go to the main menu but I canot do anything except look at the menu!

I do not want to Sony €150 to fix it like last time (5 months ago my PS3 stopped reading discs).

Does anyone know a cheaper solution to my problem?

You dropped it so anything could be damaged, and by look at the menu you mean it's frozen on it or you can only move around it without running anything. I don't think anyone could give you any advice that would work.

€150 would be for a replacement refurbished PS3, i don't think Sony would try to fix it just maybe strip it for any working parts.

"Hard disks file system is corrupted and will be restored"

Thats what it says now. I restored but back to the same thing.
Does this mean the hard drive is bust and could be replaced I wonder?

Replace the hard disk with a bigger one. That's probably the problem.

Agreed, the hard drive is the easiest part to damage. It's also easily replaceable and will work out cheaper than sending it off to sony.

Can you hear scraping or clicking sounds from the console when you
    turn it on?

You can try restore the hard disk from the recovery menu might just be the quick fix you are looking for
