Is there much room for haggling with regard to rent (first time to rent anywhere). Do people expect to be haggled with in the same way as if someone puts a car for sale for 10k knowing theyll only ever get 9?!

Fella looking for 1250pm for an apartment in town - would like to get it for 1150pm..

    1 r 2 bed?

    If it's 2 - then no more than £950-£1,000

If it's a one bed? Just shake your head and walk away.

Absolutely haggle!! It's a buyers (renters) market out there. Offer him the grand and you'll prob atleast get your 1150! The worst thing he/she can say is no! Best of luck.

    3 bed..:o

How big is the box room? Big enough for a single bed and that's it (i.e. no wardrobe, Chest of drawers space)?

Also is one of the doubles just big enough to fit a double bed with little space between wall and bed?

Yea boxroom is where i'll be storing my dvds..if they'll fit..

Double room's reasonable enough sized - not massive

When I was 14 I stood outside a sports shop on Talbot Street admiring a pair of black Puma trainers that I had all the intention in the world of buying...and I had the money. They were 14.99. This was 1984. The Shopkeeper was standing outside having a ciggy and nodding to his mate across the road at Dolphin Discs. I caught his attention and asked if he had these Pumas inside in a size 7. He said he did. I looked back at the display single in the window and said "they're 15 quid, I'll give you 12". He said "OK smart arse. Deal. Let's get them".

Spent the rest on Space Invaders and Defender in Barney's.

    Ah Barneys...now there's a trip down memory lane. :)

My personal vice there was WWF Wrestlefest. Good times.

Reminds me of my first pair of decent trainers. Nike Air Max and they were about 50 quid sterling. My parents didn't have a lot of money so getting 50 off them was unlikely. I got a tenner for my bithday which I happened to have in my pocket as i was passing the sports shop when the owner was outside having a smoke.
I asked him could I give him the tenner and then work for him to pay off the runners. Suprisingly he said yes, So spend a couple of hours after school working for him. Bringing boxes of shoes from the store or from the van and putting them in the store. Then I worked the whole day on Saturday.
Before i left on the saturday (I thought I'd probably have to work for a couple of weeks) he gave me the trainers and my tenner back. :D Nice auld man.
