I am looking for any information about WOLFE TONES GAA Club in Dublin which no longer exists ? My Father is in his late 80's and was talking about them but can't remember much about them. They may be still going under a different name ? I would imagine they played in the 50's or 60's but could be wrong.

Inchicore Driminagh area I think but again very vague ! Any information would be welcome... When they played ? where they played ? Thanks

The GAA club that serves Drimnagh is Good Counsel. They have always been known as Good Counsel since it was founded in the 1950's. However I believe that Liffey Gaels, a club based near Inchicore, have undergone several name changes. Maybe get into contact with them. If that fails contact the Dublin County Board. They should definitely be able to help you.

Thanks for the Info. I did some searching through the internet and couldn't find anything. I was thinking about the club beside the phoenix park/Chapelizod ...is this Liffey Gaels ? I didn't know the name.

If you are on about the GAA club in Memorial Park, which is near Chapelizod/Phoenix park at Islandbridge, that is Civil Service GAA club, which has always been known as Civil Service as far as I know. Liffey Gaels is very close to Memorial Park by car. Its at the junction of Con Colbert Rd and Sarsfields Rd.

I checked out Liffey Gaels website and they have a quote from the history of the GAA on the area:

"This is carrying on a tradition in the area that is almost as old as the Gaelic Athletic Association itself. Other clubs that prospered and faded in the area included Henry Grattans, Inchicore Eblana, James’ Street, Saint Patrick’s, Kilmainham, Wolfe Tones and Bluebell all of whom were recorded in 1886"

    Thanks again..

Check out the Chapelizod Old Village website: https://sites.google.com/site/covachapelizod/sports/green-flags

Green Flags was an old Chapelizod GAA team and two teams amalgamated with them in the 1920's so this website might help eliminate a few blind alleys.
