Can anyone suggest a way of getting more (Irish) twitter followers ? I know there's certain tools you can get to develop them, but not entirely sure how they work, or if you can be as specific as Irish followers.

    Personal account? Business account?

Please don't use "follower" tools - all you get is an inflated number of people who don't really care what you have to say, just their own inflated number.

Best way - engage with people. If they like what they see they'll follow you and may recommend others do too. If they don't, they don't.

Business account Aidan. Have about 40 followers right now & working on more "content" but actually getting to people seems tough

Engagement, engagement and engagement. Talk to the people you follow and theyll follow back!

Just general chat or talk about business ?

Nothing wrong with both, but balanced. Look at @blacknight or even @boards_ie for (IMO) good examples of how its done right.

    Aidan is spot on.

Step 1 - start following people that are relevant, some will follow you back.

Step 2 - start engaging with people you are following. Be respesctful and add to the conversation.

Result is that people may take an interest in you and follow.

You should of course make sure your twitter address is in all your online and offline marketing. Even simple things like putting the addy in your e-mail signature can help.

If you engage with people / the community then your follower number should increase

But numbers are meaningless (to a point)

One of our guys setup an account to test rss.me and it got 50 followers in 24 hours - all it is doing is reposting a couple of news rss feeds :)

As others have said, include your Twitter link in your emails, on your site and in your forum signature.

Some people will check out an account just out of curiousity ..
