Charging Laptop Battery Problem

Hi,

I have a Dell Vostro 1510.

Basically when the battery was in and I had the laptop charging, it would come up on the bottom right hand side of the screen where the battery icon is that "plugged in, not charging" and there is 1% left in the battery.

I bought a new battery because I thought it was a battery problem but its the same issue with the new battery.

So the problem is that if I have the laptop plugged in but the cable falls out of it, the laptop will shut off after a few seconds because there is no juice in the battery.

Can anybody tell what the actual problem is and what I can do?

I get that problem on my laptop occasionally. All i do to fix it is take out the battery and hold in the power on button for a few seconds, then replace the battery and power on again, works every time for me.

Try taking the battery out while the laptop is turned on and put the battery back in it could be also a case were your old battery is dead and the new battery is not a real dell one so it is not recognizing it properly.
