Hey guys, I'll keep it short,

This is my 1954 Ferguson TEF 20 - finished her restoration last year but not without a fight from the old girl!
As you can see in the second pic the block was banjaxed completely which was a nice discovery , luckily a new old one was found.
After that there was a slight hiccup when a refurbished fuel pump governor didn't quite fit the bill and the engine ran away in the shed. Only she ran out of diesel after 50 seconds I'd still be gathering up pieces of piston!
Eventually got her right and a fresh supply of paint and parts had the fergie back to her old glory.

Any other near horror stories from restorations? It can easily happen!!!

    Well done, nice work.

I like the Beetle also! My old man is doing one the same colour as that but he has hit a wall with it!

Thanks, my first restoration. The Beetle is my fathers, he's working on a 79 camper at the mo. It's a disease! How far into it is your old man?

He thought he had the rot cut out of it but found more, I don't think he has the heart to finish it

You should have seen ours when it arrived, bottom 6 inches of car rotten, but 3 years of toil and a few quid got it there in the end. Same with tractors, patience is essential, even when all seems lost.

Yea I know a few guys who were restoring a diesel 20, and had a similar issue  The first time they fired it up it reved flat out to about 5000-6000 revs  and filled the place with smoke forcing them to retreat out of the shed until the engine eventually smothered itself / ran out of diesel.

I suppose it turned out fine in the end

Supposedly they have it on camera but they would never show it or put it on youtube.... a real shame.

Amateurs for you... :p..... tut tut ;)

Now now Mr.Fox, that psychology won't work on me!! I have to pixelate the faces on that in case the other Mr.G lost his job for being a substandard ag engineer! I should have known you'd be on this!

The very bare remains of it were on the tractor, ie. The holes in the bonnet and partial remains of a side bracket. The rest was gathered from England, all original parts bar rear number plate bracket, at considerable cost! For example Lucas headlight was 135 sterling at the Dorset show, side brackets 180, original stuff is pretty rare!
