Jogging Areas around Harold's Cross

    Hi,

I live in Harold's Cross and am starting up running again. It's nothin too serious, really a jog for 45min or so, but I'm wondering are there any good areas to go for a run?

I know on one end there's the canal but I'd really prefer to stay away from the traffic and noise if at all possible. I also know there's Bushy park past Terenure but that would be a bit far for me.

Any suggestions of other green spaces in the area that might be good for a run? Or do I have to move house? ;-)

    Thanks

You are pretty close to Eamonn Ceannt Park on Sundrive Rd (near Superquinn). It's good place to jog. You can do a lap and choose mostly grass or path. Check it out

I know you want to stay away from the road but a lap of HC Road, Leinster Road, Rathmines Road, Grove Road and back to Harolds Cross again is pretty free of roads to cross etc so you can get a good run. Might have to dance around people a bit on parts of the Rathmines road though. Otherwise I'd second Sundrive park if you're near enough to that. I've seen people running around(through?) the grounds of mount argus church aswell.

I run this route most mornings about 7 / 7.30 ish and find it fairly handy - traffic doesnt get too heavy till 8 ish and veyr few peoplw on footpaths provided ye get home before the school rush! Often run 2 miles down in to Terenure then turn around and run back also!

I find its all about timing (aviod 8-9 am and 5 - 7 pm) in the area rather than route.

You could of course go down to the canal, and go up and down that, or use it in a loop..
