So, where would you emigrate to?

I am curious if many boardsies have or are intending to emigrate. If so, where would you be most likely to go. Would you stick to the English speaking countries (UK, US, Australia...) or would you give yourself the challenge of a non English speaking country?

I ask as we are in The Netherlands, now I was lucky as my husband is Dutch, so we had a base to start with, but not everybody is that lucky (if truth be known, I would rather be in Ireland, nice big extended family and friends etc), so I am being curious (nosy is probably a better word), where have you gone/going to?

If I was going to live anywhere else in the world, it'd have to be New York. I really love it there. I probably wouldn't leave Ireland though, I think I'd find it impossible to live without the people I am closest to here.

Honestly, I'd do everything in my power to remain in Ireland - work at whatever, where ever.
If there were absolutely NO jobs of any description anywhere on the island then I would probably head for the UK.

South Africa for me,might be a brutal violent dangrous country but in the area where some of family live I feel at home.
I'd definietly consider moving over there since I've spent summers there before and loved it.

I think I would go to Singapore. Although I can see the appeal of moving to a lesser developed country, with a slower pace of life. If I had the over heads and wasn't rearing a child I think I would consider the logistics of moving to Borneo perhaps, or maybe Indonesia, to teach scuba diving or to open a little café or B&B. It's something I will look into when I am older and have cut the cord with Ireland. I have travelled a lot, worked abroad and have family in America (and American citizenship) but I consider Ireland my home, I love Dublin and I love Irish people (for the most part). Also, my partner would never consider moving abroad, no matter how dire things were here. I wouldn't consider it as a means to get away from Ireland or find work etc, but I would as an exciting opportunity or a chance to broaden my mind and have an adventure.

I guess I'd choose a Northern hemisphere Anglosphere country.
