First date Advice

First of all apologies to the mods if you feel this thread would be better suited elsewhere.

Anyway, an ex workmate of mine has recently came back from working abroad. Whilst she was here I fancied her like crazy but could never do anything about it as its a very small office and those relationships are frowned upon.

I've got in touch and asked her out on a date which she has accepted :D

My trouble is that I'm at a loss of what to do. I'm against the usual cliché of Cinemas, or the pub etc., and want it to be a really memorable night for her.

Basically what I'd like to know is what would impress you on a first date? As I'm sure you've gathered I'm serious about this girl and want to make a great impression.

Part of the problem is that I live in Fermanagh so alternative social events that you would get in a city are just not an option.

Well thank you all in advance....(i hope:D)

Better here? If not please feel free to move. Not LL fodder anyway.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Cliche can sometimes be the best way to impress though. A really nice restaurant of her taste (if she likes sushi or chinese or italian), glass of wine, and a little walk afterwards you cant go wrong.

Thanks for the advice! I've a nice spot within walking distance of home, and then maybe a stroll out to the local lake for some quiet time!

as a female...resturant is a nice idea.....dress smart casual.....and bring her a single rose so she knows your the romantic type....after dinner suggest a walk or ask her what she would like to do!!! I went to a resturant, drinks and a walk with my boyfriend on our first date and were together almost 3 years!!!

just avoid certain topics on a date...like ex partners thats a no no!!!!

    good luck

Oh please don't do the rose thing, not unless you really know that she'll like it! I would be caught between laughing at the cheezey factor and really disliking the obvious nature of the gesture. Yuck!

Its tomorrow evening, for some strange reason I'm not a great fan of Saturdays, too many yobs and drunkards around for my liking

No need to bring a Rose - that's ott!! Enjoy

Just wanted to echo the above - posted this earlier but I think it got eaten! Anyway, please don't bring a rose unless you are really sure that she would like it. Personally, I would really dislike it; I'd be caught between laughing at the cheesiness and being a bit thrown by the OTTness.

I stayed well away from the rose, it really wasn't me anyway!

Well all went well, had a nice meal as suggested and had a great night, and the promise of a second date :D
