Condolence Cards - Words of Comfort

So, I know you can get cards that do not specifically mention a god, but I'm finding it difficult to find some sort of poem that can give comfort (eloquently verbalise how badly I feel for this friend who's loved one has died way too young) and at the same time not mention god/gone to a better place type silliness.

Has anyone got some suggestions on this?

Don't have a lot of experience with this matter, thankfully. But if you got a card that doesn't mention God/better place, perhaps you could find a suitable poem or quote on the Internet and handwrite it in?

Edit: Sorry, just reread your post. I'm afrai I have no suggestions or recommendations for poems you could use. But I'll try help find something when I get a chance

    I agree with Barrington.
There's some good snippets you can use in here

Would have liked to have something like that last thursday when a friend of mines removal was happening. Spent the entire service a bit angry as he didn't believe any of it, wanted to be cremated and the priest was on about how he would still be going to heaven even though he commited suicide.

Hard to find words of comfort in those situations.

I've looked at some websites on this and it is quite difficult to find something without mentioning religion. Hell Improbable, the first link there has a poem with 'praying for you' in it.
Maybe I'm being fussy. I'm trying to find something that speaks to me and just haven't yet.

Write a letter rather than a card :) As someone who went through losing a loved one, a condolence card means nothing. A personalised letter will mean far, far more to them, and be far, far more comforting.

    Think that's just it smokingman.

My friend only married this lovely man 5 months ago. He was in his early 30's. Maybe, as you said, there are no words for this, but I'd like to find them.

    Sorry for your friend. :(

Yeah, some of them do have mentions of religion but if you scroll down the page, there are ones that don't either.

This is a lovely idea and I have just written one.
I also included a few poems which I feel will be not much use to her now, but that she might like to look over at some point in the future and will be a modicum of comfort then.

Sorry it's late, but I only found the card now. It was the first of its kind I'd seen, it was an 'In Sympathy and Friendship' card and verse inside said:

What can a friend say to a friend
who has lost someone so dear,
Except to say I care for you
and that I'll be right here -
    To comfort and console you,
to help you make it through...
What can a friend say to a friend,
    except I'm here for you.
