I wanted to make a tutorial in photoshop but Wink suggested in Digital Darkroom wasn't working for me. Would anyone know of another that would work well to make a tutorial with sound for not too much money.
I know this post should be in digital Darkroom but that section doesn't get much traffic.

    Borrow/rent a 5D MkII or a 1D MkIV, or any body that does video/sound. ;)

Then edit in appropriate software. I think Microsoft have some basic editing tools in Windows or free downloadable.

Don't know what was suggested before. But to do this type of thing on the cheap you could try Windows Media Encoder, A free download from Microsoft. Another one is an online service called Screen Toaster. A cheap option is a program called Fraps. A lot of kids use it to show off their exploits in 3D games.

Fraps is probably by far the easiest/best to use.

That's for that. It was screen capture I was after. I downloaded Fraps but I must be thick because I can figure out where the Start Recording button is.

    all computer screen based tutorial?

screenr.com is an interesting one - came across this a while ago. windows/mac, no download, no install, sound, no fee, just kinda works :-/

limited to 5 mins and share via their site, but it appears to do a nice job if you are looking to do a screen based tutorial/voice of 5 minutes or less.

+1 on Camptasia - trial was good, and our company bought it in the end.

It does have simplicity on its side!

Will we get to see the tutorial or is it a personal project? Just curious.

I am hoping to make tutorials to go with some actions that i have made to sell so yes you could see them. I've just made one tutorial with Screenr and apart from the restriction of 5 mins per video it's fantastic. Are they all automatically public I wonder? Once anyone runs it it seems to give the option to the viewer to share it.

By far, the best programme is Microsoft Expression encoder 4

You can record 10 minute segments for free :)

I use it all the time for recording games and tutorials... check my sig for the quality

I downloaded it there, but I can only save the job as an .xej file. How do you save it as a wmv or mp4? (The publish option is grayed out and I have no money to pay for it!)

I ended up using Tipcam http://www.utipu.com/tipcam-download/ which works great.
