Hi, I'm looking for some info on the resort of Cavtat in Croatia.

What is the beach like? Long, sandy etc.

It is quiet close to the airport. Does it affected badly by aircraft noise? Are the many night flights?

Is there a good selection of restaurants?

Is it an expensive resort to stay in?

Any hotel/apartment recommendations? Anyone stayed at the Sunrise Apartments, and if so did you like it, are they in a good location?

    Thanking you :)

    Hi OP,

not sure specifically on Cavtat, however any beach in Croatia, unless it was done up recently, would be cobble stone or concrete. They would not have sand beaches.

I do stand to be corrected but I am yet to find one.

    hi :)

i´m from croatia and i must say that i dont agree with you. because we have a lot of sand beaches :)
also there is one island which is very peaceful and not so full of turist- there are only sand beaches.
here is a link with some pics of cavtat and some places around cavtat.
also you don´t have to worry about planes because we have small airports and no such "traffic" troubles :D

    sorry for my english :)

I've been to Cavtat on a few occassions about 8 years ago.

Its very close to the airport but I don't ever remember noise being an issue. I don't think it's on the flightpath.

The beach would be pebble rather than sandy. Most of the beaches on mainland Croatia are kind of like this. The islands are the places to head for better sand if thats your thing.

There are a few restaurants there and by Croatian standards they are excellent. The town itself is not very big.

As regards expense its not cheap by Croatian standards but I don't remember it being wildly expensive either. Beware if going in Summer its very hot there even at night. Air Con in apartments is rare. If you think this might cause a problem get a hotel room with A/C.

I stayed in the Hotel Croatia which was a 5 star and excellent but I had money back then!

Cavtat is an execellent resort. Small and very neat and tidy . The main beach at the rear of the Albotros hotels is a pebble beach . Its very clean and has stunning scenery.

We stayed in Zvrko Apartments , neat and quiet place to stay. Family owned and run , the collected us from the airport . They will also collect you from the town after a night out if you dont fancy the long walk back up the hill ! It has a great swimming pool too.

Plenty of choice regarding dinning out , good variety of prices too. Always check the menu/pricelist .

The airports is only a few kms away , not really problem regarding aircraft noise . There are several taxi boat companies that operate between Cavtat and Dubrovnik , its a wonderful way to arrive in this old city. The approach towards the old city walls in fantastic!

    Enjoy.

Exactly what veetwin said. Stayed in Hotel Croatia in Cavtat a few years ago. Don't remember noise being a problem at all. The hotel was nice but a bit large and impersonal - wouldn't stay there again. Really liked Cavtat - very attractive town.

If you do go there don't miss the opportunity to go to Dubrovnik - it really is gorgeous. And if you go to Dubrovnik DO NOT miss the amazing Cafe Buza - a tiny bar on the rocks outside the city walls - it's the best view in Dubrovnik.

A trip to the Dalmatian islands is well worth the effort. Nicer beaches there.
