    Dear Student

We are in process of forming a new college Society at NUIG. We currently are looking for students willing to join us. Our new Nuig Free Economics Society will focus on the global financial and economic situation.
We would like to create an online, academic open source of financial and economic awareness for future Irish commerce.
Remember that we are the generation to rebuild this country after the disgraceful mistakes made by “Main stream economists” and blind politicians in the recent past. We have to make sure that we will not take the very same route of commercial greed and political irresponsibility.
We feel obligated to provide the future business men in knowledge on how to manage money and commerce wiser.
WWW..IE will be the place where you can share your views, publish your opinions and perhaps learn something useful.
There will be no obligations; it will be purely educational concept for all nuig students.
At the moment the whole project is at early stages. The website is no fully finished yet.
We need number of students to register the society and take it from there.
We believe that nuig is filled with smart people and we think that sharing all knowledge, views and opinions will increase our financial awareness and we will do better job in the future.
    With The Financial Trading and Free Economics Society you will;
    • Discuss free market economics
    • Discuss how financial markets work
    • Stay updated with recent economic events
    • Share your views and opinions and much more.

If you are interested in genuine economics or maybe want to share your knowledge with the rest of world please go to http://.ie/?page_id=215 and fill up the contact form.
Our society will be online based and most of communication will be done via www..ie
    Take it easy

Website looks great, but what does your society propose to do that can't be covered by other societies like the Economics Society, the Business Society, the Accountancy and Finance Society, or the the investment society that has been set up recently but whose name escapes me?

I would suggest that you get approval for provisional society status before you put too much effort into it.
If, that is, you're especially keen on it to be a society. If it's just an independent group you're setting up, then that's probably fine, but getting funding will be more difficult. Though with a website like yours I would suggest revenue from advertising would be sufficient if it took off.

    ^^^
As above, it seems to be really difficult to have a society that is in any way concerned with important social issues. I am having to jump through flaming hoops to get my Students for Sensible Drug Policy of the ground.
Go to Socs Box and talk to Riona, she is legend.

Also I really like the idea :)
    Will keep an eye out

I take it this will be an Austrian School Economics Society.

As said above, this society would really be already covered in by these existing societies, but none of these societies are truly active in the area they were set up to serve, instead they are best known for organising parties and neglecting organising any speakers or debates or free thinking, in fact I struggle to recall what any of these societies have organised which doesn't involve some form of party.

I would suggest getting on the committee of one of these societies and starting from there, rather than forming a new society.
