my sister just rang me a few mins ago saying she got a letter from the dept of social welfare saying she's to go for an interview in connection with a review of her One Parent Family Payment.
she has to bring proof of identity and proof of address (utility bill etc) and any proof of savings she might have (which she hasn't).
she said she's never had to do anything like this before and is understandably worried about it.
i tried to tell her it's probably just a routine thing, that the new govt have probably brought these new measures in but i honestly don't know.
just thought i'd ask on here, does anyone know what it's all about?

Its a review. Its a means tested payment, therefore the Department can review the case at any stage. Its fairly routine.

From the operational guidelines on www.welfare.ie:

Review
A review is initiated when the Department is notified of any change in circumstances that may affect entitlement. This review may be carried out by way of a visit from a Social Welfare Inspector or by direct correspondence or phone contact.

Periodic reviews are also initiated by the Department to confirm that the appropriate payment is being made to the appropriate person and that the qualifying conditions for receipt of One-Parent Family Payment continue to be fulfilled.

If her circumstances are still the same, i.e. she satisfies all the conditions, she has nothing to worry about.
