tiling a front door step

    has anyone tiled their front step? just wondering because i think it would brightn up mine, its really dull looking

    my husband said its a bad idea because it will get slippy so i decided to ask on here?

    u can get 'non-slip' tiles that are used on the floors of walk in showers which are not as slippy as ordinary tiles.

    I put non slip in quotes as its tough to get a 100% non slip wet tile:)

    I thought the same.
    You can get non slip (ish) tiles. The ones I got were specifically for steps/outdoor stairs (they are relatively expensive). I also got some chrome/silver beading to bring it up.
    I didnt however do the job myself. I attempted it first time out, made a hash of it and eventually my brother did it for me, helped me picking the right tiles and material etc then took about 6 hours to put them in place. There was a fair bit of cutting and it was a messy enough job.
    In fairness the step does look well now.

    be careful when picking out a tile for this.you need obviously a tile which is not slippy but people get too caught up in this..if the tiles have a rough finish they are harder to keep clean..worst colour to keep is black..youll see a lot on it..smoothish finish , decent colour.. and youll be fine.. id suggest something like winklemans 4x4 red..also make sure to use flexi adhesive and flexi grout for exterior use
