Whats your issue, I used the wifi hotspot on Vista and got multiple logouts and the wifi dropping, when I use it over USB there is no problems and it the speed has risen from 2mb over wifi to 6mb on USB.

Basically Im getting the yellow exclaimation mark on the connectivity. Its saying I have excellent connection but it diagnioses issue and cannot repair. Ive tried updating the wireless card driver but to no avail

I apologise if this question sounds patronising, but always good to do the simple checks first. Did you enter your wireless password on the Vista machine correctly? If you entered the wrong password by mistake, Vista would report the kind of error you're describing. It would be able to detect the network but unable to authorise itself to join. I'd suggest re-entering the password on Vista, just to be sure.

Also, check to see if it works with a wired USB connection. At least then you'll know if it's some weird iPhone/Vista thing.

Yeah did all those password checks. It works when I connect with usb cable! But thats not working off the wifi then.

The thing is Ive tested this on two other laptops and it works fine so Im narrowing this down to a wireless card driver (I think)

Can the laptop in question connect to a different wireless network, eg. Eircom etc? If not the problem lies with the Laptops connectivity.

It sure can, never had a problem with any wireless networks!
    Eircom, UPC, etc!
This is why Im confused at the issue!

I've done a quick search and found someone on another forum (non-boards) that had a similar issue.

They said it was an authentication issue:

"For those of you that may be having a problem with this as I was,
the access port authentication is WPA2-PSK, and the encryption is AES."

Maybe you could need to set the authentication/encryption features manually on Vista?

Thanks Curly, Ill have a look when I get home, I did toy with the idea of changing the encryption method but didnt think it would have been the issue, thansk again!

Same issue! Signal strength Excellent but "Limited or no connectivity"

I dont get the option for WPA2-PSK, Ive tried every type of configuration in the settings. Very frustrating, no problem connecting with DOngle or Wifi Eircom or UPC!

Ah no probs, cheers for helping out,
Just another update, tested a second iphone4 and same issue so definately laptop related! Strange though as my older slower laptop picks it up no problem! Local only coming up for second iphone! Might be firewall issue maybe!

After two days of searching decided to see which service pack I was on, service pack 1, updated to SP2 and it works fine now!
