Light Touring Carbon Dilemna

Looking to do some light touring on my Focus Cayo and was wondering if anyone had any experience in utilizing it safely for carrying some supplies. Don't mind carrying a few kg on my back but would be nice to put as much of that as possible on the bike. Realizing I can't mount panniers, or attach anything to the seat post except a saddle bag what are my options? Talking very minimal supplies here, some tools, a light change of clothes and a couple of bits n pieces. I'd love to have a nice steel bike for such purposes but no such finances at my disposal. Handlebar bag? Have browsed about but nothing decent enough to convince me it'd be worth having over a small back back.

Saddlebag + handlebar bag maybe? Some examples of saddlebags here.

If it's got a carbon seatpost, switch it out for aluminum, and use one of the topeak seatpost racks and you should be ok.

Or, get a steel or titanium touring bike :)

I've toured with one of these before, fairly handy.

Wouldnt attach anything to a carbon seatpost but you can get a cheap alloy seatpost easy enough, the thomson elite ones are the biz and are very light,
I imagine a carradice sqr bag or topeak beam rack should be grand then.

cool thanks for links. re seat post, I've an alluminum alright but would have thought the weight would have been a bit too stressful on the the actual frame hanging out at an angle like that. I weigh about 72kg so a bit of extra weight should be fine?

I cycled from North to South of France last summer on my Planet X carbon bike, I had a Carradice saddle bag on the back and a small bag on the handlebars and I weighed 100kgs and I had no problems
