Temp Relocation?

    Hello,

I have being working with my company for 6 years next month. This morning I learnt that I along with 3 others are to be be relocated to the sister company with vital sections of it remaining in operation despite its closure last year reason being to facilitate the continuation of production in my company if that makes any sense but thats a different matter.

Anyway I'll get to the point my department has gone very quiet soo much soo I've being coming in everyday basically sweeping so got to the point it had gone under review which ended up me and another woman (who came off evening shift) have being nominated and then 2 other lads from the floor (who are only temp) to be sent, now I didn't just bite the bullet without disputing of why we didn't get this in writing for example if they say its only for 3 weeks and that turns into 4,5,6. Also when asked what ever happened to 'last in, first out' rule go then to be told 'best suited' to the position which to me is just sweet talk.

I also must point out that when the sister company closed (were am moved to) the remaining workers who opted to stay on automatically became workers of my company because as that was part of the original proposal in which the workers rejected that ultimately led to its closure, now we are under a whole new name representing both sites.

All that said is the company within the laws to do what they are doing because I really don't trust them in what they might do such am tampering with contracts or fiddling with workers rights? I swear when its comes to the nitty gritty unions can be useless.

Anyone have some kind of advice on this one?

    Thanks,
    Francie

Sounds like other duties as required to me.

You're still am employee of the first company, just being told to work elsewhere for a while.

And there is no "last in, first out" rule. Some companies apply one, to keep redundancy costs down, but it's not required.

But is their not a rule where as if your moved from your department (which you may have been for a long time) within the same site for example only to be reinstated back to the department I came from when work picks up again or gets back to normal, I heard this recently from my shop steward?

Thank for the response in anycase mary.

So this rule doesn't come into it (except for redundancy) when trying to keep a steady line of employment based on forthcoming production figures, because we have I would reckon 30 temporarys yet 'I' with nearly 6 years service was sent?
