Stuck handbrake!

    Alright lads,
I bought myself a '98 polo off one of my dads friends for €100, just for pricking about with. It was his daughters and she is now in New Zealand so he wants it gone. Its driving fine except the handbrake is stuck. He said its like that since the cold weather spell. Any ideas on how to free it up? I haven't tried anything yet and neither has the owner. I'm hoping just a belt of a hammer on the drum might shock release it but failing that any ideas?

    Alan

Is it on tight enough to drag the rear wheels?

Give the rims a few gentle love taps with a 12lb sledge hammer to free the brakes

A quick "jerk" in reverse can help ;)

Good luck with it, for €100 if it's running it will be worth a few quid, if it has an NCT or you get one it will be worth even more :D
