I used this bit of kit to connect an mp3 player to the AUX input at the back of the 6000CD radio that came with my Focus.

    It's a simple line-in adaptor.
There are more advanced kits out there I'm sure, but this one works and costs very little.

I have the AUX cable all I needs is the unit to mount the Ipod on really.

Apols for the ot but I have this kit aswel but find there's interference when I accelerate or change gears. Did you do anything specific with the cables?

Fusion Audio do a nice iPod inside Player, bit on the expensive side but your iPod is not hanging out, it fits inside the head unit

The cable simply connects the line out of the mp3 player/ipod to the input of the car stereo. No interference on that, engine speed, etc... does not affect it.
However, the power supply that supplies your mp3 player from the cigarette lighter socket does get affected by the revs of the engine, so your problem could lie there.
I know when my mp3 (cheapo ALDI job for E30) is plugged into the cigarette lighter I get mad interference.
Try connecting the mp3 without the power cable connected to the car and it should be clear, mine is perfectly clear when not hooked up to the power.

I got a Connects2 iPod adapter for my 2003 Focus (6000CD head unit). It connects to the Multi CD port at the back of the unit, and has a cable coming out with a dock connector. So it charges the iPod (iPhone in my case) and you can use the steering wheel controls to skip forward and backward through tracks, and cycle through play lists. Cost about 90 euro, and I fitted it myself, but I can't remember where I bought it - eBay maybe.
