High Killstreaks Not Worth It

I apologise if this has been posted on here before but...

Has anyone else given up running the higher killstreaks? I tried it for a little while but as I'm not the best of players I hardly got up to the Chopper Gunner or Dogs. However, when I did I would get 1 or 2 kills with them before being shot out the air or people killing my dogs and it got to the stage where I thought what is the point.

So many people run a ghost class setup with the Strella that the moment air support comes its shot down. I've found I will get more kills with a Napalm or Mortar team then I do with Dogs and Chopper Gunner.

    Anyone else feel the same?

I don't run the higher killstreaks but have seen some of the others complaining of getting one or two kills when they get dogs. Anytime I've got dogs out of a care pack they have been awesome but are apparently weaker when you earn them.
Totally agree about the Helicopters. Was in a Gunship (CPack earned) recently and there were missiles coming at me from every direction. :D

I've started using UAV, CP and Attack Helicopter. Not a big fan of Napalm or mortars.

Yes and no, i used the chopper for a long time but it does get shot down too quickly. Now i use the dogs, Looked at my combat record and I've used dogs 275 times, with 1986 kills, thats about 7 kills average each time.

Not too bad really i'm happy with it but i mostly play Headquarters and Demolition so when i get dogs i use them strategically (after capturing headquarters or planting bomb/waiting for timer to countdown) as nearly every player is busy trying to kills the dogs! But really THE BEST killstreak is probably the Rolling Thunder, when used properly there ain't no hiding from that beast! Not even indoors are you safe!:D

By themselves, I find them useless. Someone will just back into a corner and shoot the dogs, or take down the chopper. Use both at once (i.e. get your chopper, but dont use it until you call in the dogs) and the distraction of each one means people have trouble focusing on taking out the other. Works much better.

Me. I can barely get over a 7 streak, so 3,4,5 or 3,5,7 does me grand.

I'm the same but even the attack helicopter gets shot down easily. Although I get a lot more kills with a 7 killstreak than I do with an 11 :S

I'm not saying to make these killstreaks impossible to shoot down but I think it needs more than 1 flair

rolling thunder on nuketown. that is all.

I usually run SpyPlane, Counter and Blackbird, sometimes throwing on a napalm instead of a counter. Occasionally I'll got for big streaks, if I'm playing against a bad team or whatever, then I usually run Spy Plane, Blackbird and Puppies.

In other words, there aren't as many idiots running about in the open like there was in MW2 (And still is) ? :D

I rarely run dogs/chopper anymore but sure i ran them for the craic the other night with a boards party after a few games with someone in the party using them (Me sitting there with my finger up my ass while his killstreaks raped the other team). 3 games in a row i got well over 20 kills with one set of killstreaks. Think we triple capped for most of each game.

Are they worth it... meh, i prefer to shoot people. Pressing one button and letting my killstreak rape the other team just doesnt do it for me. Effort/Reward ratio... they are far to good.

Getting 50-60 kills is easy to do every game using high killstreaks, doing it with UAV/CUAV + Carepackage is when it gets challenging.

I think everyone should run the blackbird because if you get it and die if you call it in you've a great chance of getting all you're killstreaks again. But theres always the problem if to many people run the same high killstreaks they get backed up.

I use spy plane, blackbird and dogs.

I want them to include a playlist of comedy killstreaks in the next one, COD takes itself too seriously for a ridiculous arcade shooter, needs more lulz. I want a gun that has a giant boxing glove on a spring with the power of a spas. And when I hear "friendly cobra incoming" I want an actual friendly cobra, he delivers pressies to the team and gives them hugs, we'll call him Fred.

In fairness, although I argue for the removal of high killstreaks, I would agree that that they can be taken down much too easily. The CG and Gunship should have two flairs. Then at least it cant be taken down by one guy and requires a bit of teamwork.
I had one of each in Stadium (same game.. both from care packages) yesterday and got a combined 5 kills. Wow, that was depressing.

End of the day though, they should get rid of them. More random middle of the road stuff like the mortars, rolling thunder, napalm, death machine etc etc

Maybe some inventive things... like added perks. So you set your 4/5 killstreak to Perks and when you get it, it will add a perk (perhaps from each tier) you dont have to your class. So you could end up with Flack Jacket and Ghost, marathon and ninja etc etc.
Or what about those overpowered perks like juggernaut and stopping power. Putting those as killstreaks would be pretty cool. It gives you a massive advantage 1 v 1, but you'll only have it until you die (or a time limit)

I dont know, just random thoughts... point of it all, I think it would be much more fun for everyone involved to have all small-middle killstreaks that give you a few kills or a slight advantage.

I almost always use blackbird chopper and dogs but now that I play search a bit more I go for spy plane counter and care package, I'm one of those guys who uses a strela and blows the choppers out of the skies straight away theres nothing worse than being spawn killed, but I use it and most of the time people don't knock it down as quick as I knock down theirs.

Lol Lee I remember a time where ya killed yourself to take down a chopper but you only had the default classes so killed yourself twice just to take it down. Now thats commitment for ya

There is huge variation in how powerful all killstreaks are in the game. In some maps or game modes certain killstreaks are far more powerful than in others, for example napalm & rolling thunder in nuketown/firing range or in games of domination, hq and demolition can be devastating. Some may benefit the individual wheras others benefit the entire team.

I'd say there is a noticeable dip in the 6/7 killstreaks in particular, rendering their choice almost useless unless in free for all. Another factor is killstreak combinations. With the 3/4/5 combo exceling for beginners or experts in both FFA and team play. Finally hardline & care packages is another combination that can be used to good effect, essentially creating 2/3/4 killstreaks, ideal for using multiple Spyplane/Counterspy/Napalm or Care packages in a match.

3: Spy Plane 8/10 forces the enemy to chose either spend time looking away from surroundings or remain on mini map, run sam turret secondary launcher or run ghost class.
3: RCXD 3/10 very difficult to get a greater than 1 kill per use. Also requires to be dropped in. Useful in HQ to defend site from afar.
4: Counter Spy Plane 9/10 disables mini map allowing non silenced guns to dominate over silenced ones. Same choices again for spy plane.
4: Sam Turret 7/10 but 9/10 in Hanoi. Loses point as it needs to be dropped in. Also negates need for secondary launcher.
5: Napalm 7/10 in most maps but for objective or smaller maps 9/10. Downside is being negated by flak jacket pro.
5: Care Package dependant on contents but usually 6/10 without hardline 8/10 with hardline pro. Rarer killstreaks like Grim Reaper & Death Machine can be very powerful.
6: Mortar 5/10 essentially it's 3 super powered frag grenades. Which take a long time to arrive on target.
6: Sentry Gun 5/10 normally but 7/10 in certain modes, like Demolition. Ghost users can sneak past it however.
7: Valkryie Rockets 3/10 Airborne RCXD x 2. Also needs to arrive by care package.
7: Attack Chopper 4/10 Takes up airspace and only lessens the impact of higher killstreak choppers as enemies either chose anti air classes or remain indoors.
    8: Blackbird 10/10 Nuff said.
8: Rolling Thunder 6/10 in larger maps 8/10 in smaller ones and known enemy spawns. Loses point as Blackbird is same level.
9: Chopper Gunner 7/10 Can be slow but on certain maps it excels. Often coupled with dogs for lethal effect as attack from all angles is possible.
11: Attack Dogs 7/10 Forces enemies on the defensive as attack from all sides is likely. Considered less powerful than the gunship but offers multiple threats. Often though there is a chopper above vying for kills at the same time so it's AI dogs vs Human gunner.
11: Gunship 8/10 Can stay airborne for longer thanks to manoeuvrability. Generally players get more kills with this than dogs, but it represents only one target.

I generally run spy, counterspy and blackbird and find that with hardline it's very easy to pick up a couple of kills and start building towards a blackbird and hopefully help another teammate who's using blackbird to get theirs in, if or when I die. In a team blackbirds are self propagating.

Most of those ratings are fine, attack chopper is better than a 4 tho. Usually gets 4-5+ kills, attacks the best player on the other team (Stopping them from getting killstreaks) and it stops the other team from calling in a chopper.

And dogs > gunship, easily. One person can take a gunship out in a few seconds, cant go indoors, LOS etc. Dogs are coonts.

A lot of it is down to individuals or teams you're facing. I've seen dogs get less than 4 kills and often over 10 kills. The same goes with chopper gunner & gunship. Often I'd see that choppers last longer when there is a blackbird or counterspy up as there is a greater threat from multiple enemies and the counterpsy blocks the exact position of the choppers & enemies on the map. But despite lasting their full duration they'd get lowish kills because the team would act as dogs running down opponents.

If you get a teammate into spawn locations in certain maps it forces the enemy to spawn in desirable open areas. There are far too many factors involved to get an accurate rating of effectiveness. I think dogs have been dumbed down as I used to follow them as a guide to enemy locations but now when there is a blackbird up I often find their route choice to be very limited, a good map & spawn knowledge is far more useful.

I saw one dog following a guy into the ice rink in stadium follow him in the middle opening for 3 metres turn around and try intercept him as he went towards C dom. They're hardly meant to be smart weapons but I wonder if they've been given sleeping pills by Treyarch in their dog food to make them less effective. Plus there are certain parts of many maps where dogs can't go. If you have teammates working with you to block them off dogs will do better but playing by yourself against a party they'll be far better at killing or avoiding them.

That could be the dogs toying with their prey as some of that team were pitiful. One person tried noobtubing a pair of dogs at point blank when armed with a fully loaded famas. Needless to say he died and left the dogs unharmed.

Attack Choppers are only good against groups of individuals when no-one is running strellas. In a well organised team, there shouldn't be spyplanes up for protracted periods unless your up against seasoned campers. I still think they're far more detrimental to your own team as opposition players choose to play indoors and camp or bring out the strellas.

I've now started running UAV, counter UAV and attack helicopter. I usually get quite a few kills with the AT depending on where I place it. I find people usually ignore it as they feel it isn't worth the hassle trying to take down unless they are going for ghost pro

True, you can get so many kills with a Cobra, it is imo the most underrated killstreak in the game, way better than mw2s Attack Chopper which was just poo compared to the Harriers :pac:

Spy plane, chopper gunner, dogs.....best combo out there! Used all the times ive had over 30 k/d. Call in dogs, leave them move out for a sec or 2, chopper gunner in. They get too preoccupied with one and the other kills them, if they manage to escape my chopper and get inside, dogs clear them out and i can spawn rape :)
