Has anyone bought a set of these wheels? How do they hold up on Irish roads? Is there much of a difference between these and the planet x new pro 50's?

As far as I know they are the same rim (Gigantex). At least Planet X used to use Gigantex rims.

Yeah I think they are the same rim. They must be built better than the planet x's tho? You can get a 1250g set for about 1100e mark which is a fair bit cheaper than a similar spec big brand factory wheel.

    Reynolds Assault T, €1150 from CRC, €995 from radsportteile.de, €849 2010/€949 2011 from from bikecomponents.de.

    Keep searching... :)

Never considered those. Anyone got any experience of them? Durable?

I have a pair, clinchers. I've not used them enough to give any durability feedback, but they ride sweet. Nice and stiff.
Mine are 44 so they are on the shallow side of deep.

Those Gigantex rims have very good reputation on WeightWeenies, as does Derek who builds them. He built a alloy clincher for me and it has held up very well so far.

My son bought a pair of Gigantex Ultralight 50mm tubs off Wheelsmith. Derek helped him spec the wheels for his weight (59Kg). Price was very reasonable.

He has raced them in A3 in about 5 races since start of the season and no issues so far.

They are so light that when the courrier delivered the box we bought thought the box was empty and courrier insisted we open it before he left.
