Hi guys. I just got an email telling me I have an interview next Tuesday. I'll be travelling up from Kilkenny on the Train. Is DCU easy to get to from Heuston St. Train Station?

just get to oconnel street and there are loads of busses that go straight to the college. 4 11a 11b 19a. it will say these numbers on the appropiate bus stop the just ask the driver to let you know when you are at dcu. its only about 10 min on the bus.

also dublin bus does not accept notes so you have to have the right change. its 1.65 each way.

taxi would cost maybe 10-15 euro

You can get the 4, 4a, 11, 11a, 11b, 13, 13a, and the 19a. When you're getting on the luas for o'connell st. make sure you get one heading towards the point or connolly, it'll be going to your left if you were facing out the door of heuston.

Thanks again guys. I can take the LUAS to DCU?

No, you can't. You need to get the luas from Heuston station to o'connell street, where you need to catch one of the buses mentioned, which will drop you off at DCU if you ask the driver to let you know when you're there.

Ah Ok. Thanks for the clarification. Can I catch any of those buses at busuras by any chance? I was thinking of coming up on the bus instead.

    Thanks again.

Easiest way to to DCU is from the busses on O'Connell street are you won't have to wait as long with more stopping in the same place.
From Busaras you can get the Luas to Abby street, as thats just on O'Connell street, or walk as its only one stop.
The bus stop for DCU is past the spire, going in the direction away from the river, outside a place called 4D cinema or something, its those little simulator rides.

when getting off the stop for DCU is across the road from the pedestrian entrance, so its not as noticeable as the big main entrance. Bus driver should tell you, otherwise look out for college age people with bags getting up, its always a sign

Good advise above except for the time, it will definitely take more then 10 minutes. I always budgeted 25, if your lucky to might get there quicker, but It's doubtful during the day. If trafic is heavy as it can be in the morning it could take longer

No buses go by busaras however.

It's not difficult to find your way from Heuston/Busaras to DCU, but if you're unfamiliar with Dublin you may be as well to get a taxi, especially as you are going to an interview - you don't need the extra stress of finding your way around a strange city.

That's probably what I'll end up doing. Especially if I feel like I don't have much time.

The bus-eireann Bus/JJ kavanagh Bus from kilkenny stops right before or after O connell st.

-> So walk down O connell st on the left hand side towards the spire.

-> Keep walking down past the spire ( you'll pass a subway and then a spar)

-> Just after them are the bus stops listed above.

-> any of those to DCU as mentioned.

-> Walk the whole way down the avenue into DCU and turn left once you pass the post grad accomodation. Down theres the main campus and a map is below

Thanks grateface. Will I have to jump on one of those buses after I get of the bus from KK or will DCU be in walking distance from there?

You could walk, but it would take about an hour. Your better off geting the bus.
