Treaty's are like your virginity, We all have dreams of losing it to a hot bird and then you see an ugly chick, and she's up for it, and then you'll agree to anything to get get the ride.

I didn't vote yes thankfully and my predictions came true. Economic community?.. yes. Over sized bureaucratic superstate?...NO! Now did the promises of a shortened and less severe recession come true? Laughable really.

I voted no too but it seems the majority of the country voted yes, just asking the question, are they happy with their decision and were the no voters right all the time and ignored or made out to be fools for voting no?

i am still happy i voted for it

    Why?

I dont think the recession would be any worse or any better if we voted yes or no.
The majority of people in here who will express an opinion on the Lisbon treaty will have a knowledge of it that does not go beyond hear say that they heard from some 90yr old down the pub

    dey tuk r jerrbs!!!

I made an informed decision to vote yes, based on the actual contents of the treaty, rather than any of the partisan blathering on either sides. I'm happy therefore with my decision. I fail to see how, having made one's decision on an understanding of the document, one could reverse that decision. But then, many people, especially on the No side I think, didn;t base their decision on the treaty itself, but on what they were told it would mean. Hardly surprising then, that people woudl change their minds.

There's absolutely no reason why anyone who understood the Lisbon Treaty and voted yes should for some reason regret that vote today.

Why does anyone expect them to regret it?

such as.. i have read the treaty and dont recall a whole lot on 'sh!te'.

tbh this is going to go nowhere, perhaps if it was in politics it might remain coherent...

Unemployment nearly trebled when we voted No. Could you imagine a 30% or over Unemployment rate?

    The Nazis....

..... Well? Are you glad we decided to sit in splendid isolation while Europe burned?

That's right, I'm insinuating that you're a nazi by framing the question which I didn't even bother to wait until my second post in the thread to self-answer. God I'm awesome!

What did they promise exactly? I knew you had an agenda in posing the the initial question.

Oh, the EU promised loadsa jobs, and now we're in a recession. Stupid Lisbon Treaty! It's not actually a Super Anti-Recession Shield!!

As one politician opined at the time, from the Irish point of view there wasn't much to choose from between the English and the Germans... :p

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. If you want people to read and respond to your posts, you have to meet them half way, and make them somewhat comprehensible. It's not about being a spelling or grammar Nazi, it's about doing the basics to make your point understood. You don't need to be a literary genius to use full words rather than text speak.

    dar4,

You have already had a warning re text speak and a link to the AHs Charter, anymore posts like this will result in a ban.

Read Einhard's post if you don't understand the Charter.
