BB question

    hey there,

I got my first AEG today the JG g36c and I love it. Thank you midwest airsoft for an easy transaction.

Anyway my question is what is the best BB to use with this rifle? I got gunfire high precision BB's and they are great but is there anything better?

Also it would be great if I could buy in bulk. I have used about 1000 of my BB's already and I only got the rifle a few hours ago!

I use 'Blasters' along with the rest of my team! if you ask a retailer I'm sure they'll sell to you in bulk.
And stay away from ICS, my poor baby nearly died using them :(

Thank's for the suggestion! Where would be the best place to pick these up?

I've been using king arms bb's for bear enough to a year now and I've found them the best, just stay away from raptors

Raptors better than Excels? G&G bb's being bad? You're clearly from bizzaro land or you've been listening too intently to particular propaganda.

Excels and G&G are my favourites. Perfect results every time, even with my 6.01 tightbores.
The white blasters they're not bad, but they're pretty cheap so they're good value.
I never had problems with ICS, but I've only run them through my M249, which was never particularly fussy.
I've heard good reports on King Arms and Madbull ones, though I've never used them myself.

Avoid Blaster "Camo Ammo" (the green or black ones) and Raptors. I've seen an unholy amount of failures caused by these. Especially the Raptors (the camo ammo never became too popular anyway).

In my experience Raptors are better than Excells maybe I got a bad batch but they jammed the barrel and ripped the hopup in one of my guns. With regards to the G&G ones thats only what I've heard. I've always used them and they have never given me a problem.

Jesus lad you're gonna get me in trouble:eek:
Just to let people know what we've been hearing about whats gone on with G&G BB's.
I have to be honest and say my suppliers going foward are no longer supplying G&G BB's,so some may feel that it's not surprising I'm saying this!
G&G BB's were produced in a particular factory where the excess production produced a limited amount of KA BB's.G&G have changed factory and while their new production is far from ****e, they now apparently have trouble with tightbore barrels.Simple as that.
Spartan have told me this aswell as the main buyer from Cybergun in France. They both say its well known in Airsoft and both deal directly with the factory in question.
However to dispute this MIA recently done a deal with G&G at the shot show in Germany and they were adamant that they had not changed production.
    Who to believe?
Pretty sure MIA are going to be stocking G&G BB's in the near future so I guess we'll all know pretty soon
Personally, I dont have any particular loyalty to any brand. We sell a pallet of ICS BB's every month but we know they are problematic with certain rifles and tightbores. Some love them, some hate them.

I've seen guys tear through that much in half a days gaming.

Of course, they were using support guns with box mags and couldn't hit a barn door from five yards, but still...

Personally I would reconmend just going with the basters as they are a decent BB and cheap enough. I dont think you really need to go splashing out on persision BBs with JG stock barrel. Its only really when you havea tight-bore barrel that you need to be a little more careful about what you use.

Also @chefburns Raptors better than Excel:confused::confused::confused::confused: I don't think so. In my experience Excel are without doupt one of the best (if not the best) BBs on the market and if you had a Jam or problem with them I think maybe it could've been a bit of dirt or something in the barrel:D

It may have also been because it was a stock hopup but still it was perfectly fine up until i started using the excells might have been a bad batch.

Honestly, I've never even heard of a bad batch of Excels. Between .2, .23, .25 and .3, I've probably used well over a full pallet-load of them over the years, in everything from totally stock rifles, to scratch-builds with 6.01mm barrels and all kinds of exotic bits. I've never once had so much as a misfeed with them. I trust them implicitly. I just wish they were easier to get here. Most shops seemed to have ceased supply in favour of cheaper (albeit, not bad) alternatives.

best thing to do is just try different brands. see which ones you like and see which ones are easy on the pocket.
i mainly use gunfire bbs and have used maybe 25k of them with no major jams at all.... 1 or 2 hiccups but a little widdle and shes away again.usually retails about 5 euro per 2000 i think.
i have used some ICS before and i have to say they are very nice, unfortunatly i havent used ICS or gunfire in a Tight bore barrel yet so i cant say much on that side but for a stock barrel either works well on my term anyway

As you have used gunfire high precision BB's already and they appear to be working well for you
Then can I suggest that you stay with them as they are in stock at your local airsoft retailer (Mid West Airsoft) where you got your JG G36c and repesent good value at €3 per 1000 BBs
But by all means try different brands its part of the fun, my personal favourite being Excels

From all the threads on BB's I've read over the years there does seem to be a consensus that Excels are probably the best out there.
Problem is most Airsoft retailers don't have them. This however is not out of choice.
Most Irish retailers where getting them either directly or indirectly through ASG in Denmark.
However in Sept/Oct of last year they dropped their european distribution of Excels.Crazy decision considering the rep they had.
Untill someone starts bringing them to Europe again, you're not going to see many, if any Irish retailers stocking them

Just to add to this, Southeast have just posted they have them in stock so I guess some guys can still get them

The boys in Quality Airsoft have a limited supply at the moment of their own TNT BBs, .20 only I think at the minute.

Tried them myself and they are crazy good.

So what would your recomend for tightbore barrels?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 577 ✭✭✭3102derek

i picked up a bag of SG Airsoft .23 today. they worked a threat in my G&P with a .63 barrel , no miss-feeds.

i had woeful problems with ICS and KA's (only the green ones). first time its worked in over a month. so it will be SG's for me until the KA's are back in white

the KA white ones were grand.

Conversely, I've had terrible issues with the SG Airsoft ones not feeding. Well, 'terrible' is a strong word for just having to slap my magazine every so often, but it still sucks. I don't recommend.
