Fury is an average fighter, European level at best.

I never thought I would say this but I have a newfound respect for Fury. He's probably never going to amount to much but he cleverly talked himself up, did the trash talking, enough to get him noticed and now that he's a recognisable name he's taking tough fight after tough fight.

is that on the mc closkey khan bill?

i wasnt overly impressed with fury so far, but this might not be as bad a fight as first seems rahman is past his best and is well beatable while still being a recognised name.

Great opponent for Fury, Rahman is well passed his best and as others have said is still a big name. Even if Rahman can take advantage of the technical flaws in Fury's game, Fury's superior speed, strength and fitness will bring it home.

I reckon Fury gets the stoppage here, which should do wonders for his profile, both in Britain and Worldwide.

As washed up as Rahman is now, I think that if he takes his training seriously for this that he could beat Fury.

If he can come in around the 245 to 250lbs mark, then I think he will have the strength and stamina to match Fury and take him out.

If he slacks off and comes in at 260lbs or over, then maybe Fury can pull something off.

I just don't rate Fury at all, and think that he would have to up his game in a big way to beat a very washed up Hasim Rahman.

Rahman isn't a big fighter, he was only around the 225lb mark for his last fight I believe, id say he'll be under the 250lb mark by a distance.

Mobility will beat Fury or else ability to slug it out up close, and if Rahman was to be successful up close and inside, he'd need to carry some extra weight like he did in the Lewis and Tua fights.

I have my doubts about Fury's intentions in really taking this.

If it does go ahead, it will be due to the fact that Fury is confident that Rahman is well and trully shot.

Hes coming off a 4 fight winning streak but they have all been bums.

i agree with rahman being more successful up close and inside but i would have thought mobility would be more of an issue for rahman than fury

It will be more of a problem for Rahman of course. But I think a good fighter who can keep Fury changing direction and moving for every minute of every round will tire him out.
Rahman is certainly not the man to do this, his main hope is to rough him up on the inside and hold when he can.

Fury is a heavy footed fighter and will be there to be hit, Rahman may be shot but he will still pack a punch.

stamina could be a clincher here aswell he didnt show a lot of it against mc dermott, and at his age he should have bags of it maybe they've worked on that but i doubt it. personally i dont think he has the right trainer its all well and good keeping family members on board but if they have their limits they have their limits. i just wonder how much of a difference it would make if he has a top trainer. the heavyweight division is ****e at the moment to say the least so theres always the possability of a european title there for him if he gets himself proper training.

I think his old man is in prison now, I may be mistaken but Manny Steward was his trainer for his last few fights

He will need to improve his conditioning vastly if hes have a successful career

He split from his uncle Hughie's place a couple of years back I believe. He was spot on doing that aswell, he needs to give himself the best possible chance to do well.
He cannot afford to be cutting corners, and if he has one to one tutoring from Manny then he will do ok i think.

In his last four fights, starting with the most recent, he weighed 254lbs, 254lbs, 260lbs, and 264lbs.

He has not dropped below 240lbs once in his last ten fights, and the last time he was close to 225lbs in the ring was in 2002 when he dropped a pile of weight to come in light against Holyfield. For the fights on either side of the Holyfield fight he weight 259lbs and 236lbs.

In fact if you look back over his entire career he rarely came in close to 225lbs and from 1998 to this day he has mostly come in between 240lbs and 250lbs. I think it is safe to say that he has always carried decent weight for his height.

my bad you are right there for sure :o

Carrying weight against Fury will not be a bad thing though provided he takes the fight to him up close on the inside.

Hes totally shot though, and I think Fury is only taking this because he knows Rahman poses no threat. And its on short notice too. If it does actually go ahead which id guess it prob won't.

Not sure if this is going to go ahead. According to Dan Rafael on twitter tonight

Contrary to what is being reported, I am told by Hasim Rahman's adviser that it's "95 percent" that he isn't fighting @TYSONFURY next week.

    fecking caps lock,

It's not, it's on Sky Sports 3, one of the main reasons being the lack of strength in the undercard. If they had managed to have dragged Rahman over the fight may have stayed on PPV.

Tis a bad state of affairs when the ppv status of a 2011 world championship card hangs on the prescence of Hasim Rahman.
