Canon EOS 600D: price

I'm looking for a Canon 600D with a Canon 18-135mm lense. That's my first priority. Without memory card, cables, warranty etc I'm being quoted €874.77 (plus €35 p&p) here.

Would you think I can do better than this price?

PS: Also, I'm looking for the 50mm lens with 1.4 aperture as I need to take photos of manuscripts. Is it possible to get this for less than €400?

    Thanks.

The lens there is only 18mm-55mm, though.

That lens doesn't exist. A large aperture isn't needed to take photos of manuscripts.

Mea culpa. That should be a 50mm lens with a 1.4 aperture, this is the cheapest price I have got on it so far. I was told this would be best for photographing manuscripts which are 400 years plus old.

you were told wrong, unless you want to take arty, out of focus shots. you are better off using the kit lens with a good tripod and using a narrow aperture like f8 to get all the page in sharp focus

Just received this 600D in the post from Hong Kong - interestingly, they wrote "Returning Camera" on the package no doubt to dissuade customs from opening it. I'm going through the manual now.

Would anybody have any recommendations for a case which will hold the 600D and the 18-135mm lens (and, perhaps, a lens or two in the future)?

    Thanks.

Just branding, it's also called the Kiss X5 in Japan (:

note: the picture you have there of the 600D is not actually a 600D, probably just a 550D that somebody 'shopped before the 600D was officially released. Only difference between the two should be the plug you get with the charger ;)
