    Folks

Just thought I'd try this one on for size. A thread to share some of the more common faults that fail at the Test on your car or cars you work on. Just a thread to maybe safe people from having to do re-tests.

    Here's one to start
2005 - B6 VW Passat TDI range. Seems to be a common failure on front end bushings especially on left side for some reason.

Corroded brakes lines. I know of numerous cars that have failed on this and whenever I am in an NCT centre there are usually some people there who have failed on brake lines.

It seems to happen on various makes and models. If I had to pick out a particular one I'd say the Nissan Almera (mk1 and mk2) is quite prone to it.

Being on the rougher side of the road generally, well if you do a lot of travelling on narrow country roads anyway, might explain that one.

E46 3 series would be up there with the worst for rusty brake pipes imo, I've seen a good few 03 and 04 ones with them.

    Failed for:
Broken back bumper (Had a habit of trating poor Nancy the Nissan like a bumper car when I got her.)
WHat really annoys me is that it does not affect the car in any way?!
    Then faulty electric window
    Bent Tyre (from afforementioned bumping)
    and window washers.

It's gonna be a lean few weeks in this household!

My BMW E30 1.8i was failed two weeks ago on corroded brake lines on one side.

It is an '88 so might be justified!!

Corroded brake lines on Mk. 4 Ford Fiestas, particularly the sections just behind the rear wheels. Why do they make brake lines out of steel?

Headlamp reflectors on N16 Nissan Almeras (the last generation) seems to be a common problem too.
