examiner: Do you have any pets?
my friend: Yes I have a dog. He is small, very playful. I love him a lot but he barks too loud sometimes
examiner: Ah. What do you think of the Green Party policy on noise pollution?
    my friend: que

Apparently the examiner that came to my school is quite harsh, a friend of mine said to her after 'Sorry, I was really nervous.' She replied with 'That's not my problem' and then preceded to give her, her empty tea cup to take out.

I had mine today! Made the examiner laugh 4 or 5 times :P Hoping thats a good thing!

Examiner: Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?
Me: (throw my hands up in the air in a really dramatic way): Ooh la la madame, bonne question! je ne sais pas!

Examiner: What happent in this school if you break the rules?
Me: Ahhhhh madame, I never break the rules ao I don't know!

Examiner: Why do you think it's important to get on well with your teachers?
Me: Ehh to do well in exams to get to uni?

Examiner: what do you usually eat for lunch
Me: a croissant, a baguette, cheese, snails and frogs legs, oh and I drink wine as well..

She also kept trying to insist that I was spoiled when I told her loads of times that I'm not.

I keep looking back now and thinking of things I could have said :( And I TOTALLY forgot everything on my doccument. I just kept saying "c'etait chouette, c'etait super, c'etait genial" & crap like that..

    It was fun though :D

Still hope I got an A1/A2.. My accent and hand actions were priceless. Would love to hear it played back again!

    Good luck!

Yep. Apparently she didn't let some people do their document either..
One of the teachers supposedly went up to her at the end of the day for going hard on people. People came out crying.

had mine today. went surprisingly well.

if possible you should try to make them laugh. it really works well. she asked me what is the solution to drugs in sport. (my relative works in the Irish sports council) I go well if i knew that i would be working in there with him. i thought it sounded a bit smart but she loved it.
    happy days :D

Made mine laugh twice, seemingly a good sign.

OL here, I now refuse to believe the bad things people say. Examiners aren't trying to catch you out, mine was a very nice woman, clear and consise and gave you an example if you didn't understand the question.

I learned off stuff for Music - My main one
    School -
    Subjects
    TV
Document - French postcard from the village we go to every summer.

Little bit of chat , family, since i live in center of town what did i think of everything.

You don't need tp know everything, imo you need little words like je pense, j'espère , donc, aussi, sulelement/ mais to help the flow of what you want to talk about. She says tell me about yourself you don't say your name and age, you tell her where you live, who you live with, where it's situated and how close to the school it is. The more you talk the better.

I felt it went quite well, time shall tell.

Nothing too funny for me, but yesterday someones phone went off during the oral and the tape went crazy. So she threw it across the room to turn it off. :pac:

    Eh, overall not impressed!!
Very irratic questioning I thought :(
Started off with where I'm from.. then college.. Then school rules.. then family.. pocket money.. part time job.. sports..how do i get to school.. and then document!!

    Made 1 major mistake,
When talking about school rules the examiner asked me about punishments, and I took off on a rant about how I love the school and its great etc.... he asked the question again and i realised my mistake and corrected myself.. thank god!
but still a major mess up

Also my document didnt go well, only given about 2min max. even though i knew lots about it, he didnt wanna know!! Don't think he understood where I wanted it to go..

Overall, I think my weird facial expressions, random hand waving and eye contact was probably the highlight of the exam! bit disappointed .. but its all over now

I also want adleast a B1/A2 and I did way worse. My examiner asked me about slavery still existing today, the corrib gass field (I live in donegal), the japanease earthquake, global warming, fights with tourists from northern ireland (none, of which i could answer well) and he didnt mention school or my daily routine or a job once! But, that what's the worst part, as soon as i would say one thing and then i paused for a second to say my next line, we would swoop in with another question and i coudn't understand him. It really wasnt fair. It seemed like he spent way more time talking then me.

Thats what I think is so unfair about the orals! You obviously got a really harsh examiner. Mine was lovely and didn't ask current affairs to anyone except the French dude in our year :P
You poor thing, I'm sure they'll mark it well though, they cant give everyone bad marks if they asked everyone about abstract topics..

Mine went really well, and the examiner was absolutely lovely. I think our school was lucky with the examiner we received, she seemed really excited all the time and never stopped smiling. I think she might have been a little insane actually.

I answered all the questions she asked quite in-depth though, except when I started talking about festivals in England, she started asking questions about tourism and tourist attractions all around Ireland, and me being the ignorant Englishman that I am, I didn't have a clue.

My examiner focused on the most pointless stuff :( He asked about a million finicky details about my favourite book/musical. I was struggling to answer the questions in my head because some of the questions were just pointless.
I didn't get asked about my school or any of the abstract topics, which is kinda crap because I spent ages focusing on them. He didn't really ask me any questions that I could expand on, mainly questions that had a two sentence anwers.

You see it is interesting that you say that, because I was the only one dissapointed with my exam, everyone else got on great with the examiner. No one else got asked about current affaires in my year, so i really dunno, but it was the fact he didnt give me enough time to reply was the bit i found most unfair, like and i speak pretty fast. Hopefully he will take into account the difficulty of the questions he asked me.

all in all im happy enough with my oral :)
im really hoping it will help bring up my grade a little aswel...french wouldnt exactly be my best subject.....a few hard qst that i really was stuck for words woth but she helped and prompted a little so im happy....:)

it is kind of unfair how the examiners can vary so much with what they ask though....doesnt really give people fair marks at the end of the day imo

My teacher has always said that the more fluent you come across, the harder questions they will ask you :) So maybe you're really good.

I have my french this friday dreading it . I am terrible at speaking in french we did group work yesterday and I was going blank on easy questions that I know to answer.

Do you just need to give long answers for sort questions instead of simple sentences.
Say if they asked you how old are you. Would you say your age then add in when your birthday is and what year you are born and what age you will be turning to make it a long answer?
