Hi , i have a t90 si which is tripping out the temperature cut out switch, it trips out after a minute or so with shower knob turn to hot, also while on hot the water starts to fluctuate a little up and down pressure wise, any advice much appreciated.

Assuming the temperature sensor is working properly(is the water very hot when its tripping?), then its a water flow rate problem which can be pump problems, shower head clogged with scale, or the filter partly clogged, or some water flow problem from the attic tank.

Try removing the shower head first and ensure a good flow of water out of the hose. It should vary in flow rate a fair bit between the high and low temp dial positions, higher flow rate at the cooler end of the dial. If its ok without the shower head, it may need to be de-scaled.

If its still cutting out then check the filter inside the shower unit to see if anything is clogging it.

T90s will possibly cut out that temp sensor when the temp dial is at its hottest setting and both heating elements are on, especially when the weather is warmer as the attic tank water is a bit warmer to start with.

Thats interesting, when they get badly covered in scale, the elements overheat alright, as now they are insulated from the water so the water wont keep them as cool as they should be, but the scale must have been also restricting the water flow, as the water would not get as hot as usual if it had the same flow rate.

But the tank casing might of been getting very hot as well from heat conduction direct from the elements if the inside wall of the tank itself was also coated in scale which also would of stopped the water from keeping it at its normal temp, tripping the overheat sensor on it.
