Picked up an old 318 diesel ('98) today for small money and need some advice on fixing some bodywork problems.

Previous owner had a rabid Alsatian who tried to take a bite out of the front wheel arch and left noticeable teeth marks! Whats the best way to sort this? Is there much to grinding, filling and respraying? Is it something I could attempt myself with fillers and an aerosol? The rest of the bodys black paint has obviously slightly faded over time, so Im worried about ending up with odd coloured panels. I dont think its worth getting it done in a garage really.

Also whats the best for bringing back the shine and maybe removing light scratches from the body. T-cut or just go with plenty of polish?

If your connfident, depending in how deep the bite barks you could try sand it back and then spray it with an aerosol can (Can be got in Halfords) make sure its the same exact colour though.

Then T-Cut the whole car and then polish it a while after. Black is very hard to match so make sure you know what your doing.

Sorry, I should attempt a proper reply and not a facepalm gif. Avoid Halfords for a start, and definitely avoid the useless muck that is T Cut second. Check my signature for a guide on sorting out scuffs step by step.

Oh can I ask why avoid T-Cut ?

Not being smart just interested as to why ?

Also OP just get a second hand wing in the same colour.

It's useless! It's kinda hard to go into specifics, but it's just muck. Farecla's G3 and G6 are the same price, and a million times better. Same as telling someone to have go with an Aerosol when they clearly don't know what they're doing at all. It'd ruin the car, and make any repair much more costly. Not having a pop at you, but 'Yerah T Cut and Aersol' gets bandied about too much here as a remedy, and in the hands of 95% of people, will destroy a car.

    Oh okay thanks.

Never used G3 or G6 before, whats the difference between them ?

Cheers, PaintDoctor - The only reason I mentioned fillers and an aerosol is Ive seen it used before and when done well, it can be a good solution. Ok fair enough Im a novice and havent tried it before but I will check your sig.
