He's way to close to the car in front, but that being said, I'd need about three years supply of new underwear

I'm not sure if He was Lucky that it went through the centre of the windshield and/or unlucky that it happened in the first place.

I'd say he was just recording how long it took for that truck to overtake.

Maybe he foreseen his own death and avoided it and now death is out to get him...........think that was a film.............:D

    Jeeesssus.

Taligating though - absolutely zero reaction time though he probably wouldn't have avoided it at a safe distance either.

Something similar happened to me a year ago, was in the middle lane of a 5 car motorway doing 60 or so, what looked like the corner of a pallet was kicked up and crashed into the windscreen. Kept it together and managed to get off to the hard shoulder...was in bit afterwards. Thank God it was a rental car ;)

Might've only hit the bumper though rather than going through the window

Jaysis. I did not expect that to happen! I thought there was going to be a blowout or something on that truck that was slowly passing the two cars. Scary stuff!

I'd say he was just recording how long it took for that truck to overtake.

It wasn't the truck who was overtaking.
It was the vehicle towing trailer.
But I'd wouldn't call it overtaking actually, but just hogging overtaking lane.

    Helmet-Cam possibly? I know it's unlikely, but a possibility.

truck is undertaking, lhd vehicles, so drive on right, overtake on left ;)

So didnt expect that, thought truck on left was going to crash or something.

I recall seeing something like this during a televised rally (don't recall if it was WRC or IRish tarmac) and a fencepost went through the windscreen between the driver and navi.
The one here was much scarier!

From what I've seen that's the norm on American highways. lines of hundreds of cars all tailgating each other and no speed difference between the lanes. Bloody nuts!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 109 ✭✭evanSpiddal

Bloody hell that scared the crap out of me!! I don't know how i would react in that type of situation, hope i never will either!

    Yikes !

He is danger close to the vehicle in front at that speed for what good a safer distance might have done him - I actually thought given more distance the trajectory might have thrown it over him - it certainly would have had less speed at impact anyway.

    Maybe that one?

But it wasn't in Ireland neither WRC.

I had to watch it just before moment of impact a few times to see what actually happened - scary stuff
Good thing she survived, but hopefully she will never be driving and holding up a camera/phone again

Had something similar happen in the US once. We were driving from San Fran to Yosemite on the Interstate 580, near a town called Dublin funnily enough! Anyway, the gf was driving at the time, so I was in the passenger seat when I see something like a block of wood(about the size of a shoebox) fall off a truck in front. I screamed like a baby(as you do!!) but the gf never saw it and we hit it. Luckily a truck in the lane outside us saw what happened and slowed down to let us pull over. Took the tyre off and the block had punched a hole big enough to put your two fists in. Scared the ****e out of us.
