What to do outside Venice

Thinking of heading to Venice for a week in June. Arrive Sunday, rent a car on wednesday afternoon and leave the city. Any thoughts on where to go outside of venice? What to see/do etc. Also, while I am looking into it myself as well, what's the story with getting to say, st. marks square from Marco Polo Airport with…

Thinking of heading to Venice for a week in June.

Arrive Sunday, rent a car on wednesday afternoon and leave the city. Any thoughts on where to go outside of venice? What to see/do etc.

Also, while I am looking into it myself as well, what's the story with getting to say, st. marks square from Marco Polo Airport with luggage etc? I can just picture us bundling luggage into a Gondola!

You can get a water taxi from the airport to anywhere in Venice, but it's not cheap. There are busses running to the bus terminal in Venice and from there you can take Vapporetti (water busses) to pretty much any part of the town.
