Just Mobile are offering Free Calls and Texts to Network (Landline Included) for only €18 a month. They also have a Limited Offer of free Data (1GB a Month I believe) which ends April 30th.

    http://www.justmobile.ie/why-us/just-right

At last we are starting to see some competitive pricing in Ireland.

Edit: Read their T&Cs. You only get 600 Texts and 250 minutes. Still not a bad deal at all though.

    Hmm, tempting!

I've been waiting for a decent tariff for €20 - €25 with data included..

.. O2 are the absolute pits!

    EDIT: Hmmmm..
Your mobile internet service is FREE until at least April 30th 2011

Don't like the "at least" bit.

I went on there and clicked into the coverage section. Hmmm, I'm not too sure if I'm getting the message they are sending here.

    "We've got you covered"
    51872906.th.jpg

Are they calling their user-base d1cks?

Seems like a really good deal though. As Basq points out, maybe too good? I'm paying double that with and extra 1Gb for less minutes/texts on O2.
Gonna have to do a bit of research on this one.

To be fair, O2 are absolutely ridiculous. They only pre-pay offering for data (starting this month) is €10 a month for 700MB. Over €3 more than their nearest competitor.. don't compare anything to O2. Everything will seem a bargain when compared to them.

I've got a JustMobile sim in work that I barely used but will check coverage and reception tomorrow (my house / area has patchy network connection) and if it seems OK, i'll go for it. I mean, it's PAYG anyways... no contract as far as I can see.

    * hoping fans of 'The Breakfast Club' will get that reference!

It should be noted that its 250 mins or 600 texts.

Nothing at all unlimited about that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 167 ✭✭plonker

sounds like a good deal,I wonder is there a way to check how many minutes and texts you have left for the month so you wont go over the limit?

Most "unlimited" deals have an "acceptable usage policy".. this isn't a new thing.

Especially for something as reasonable as this.

EDIT: JustMobile just got back to me on their Facebook about the data charge:
"we'll announce data pricing at least 30 days in advance; so that means you'll get at least a month maybe even two before you'll need to part with any cash - we can say though it'll be cheap and you'll only pay if you use it , no monthly add-on charges"

I know what an acceptable usage policy is, and I'm not saying it isn't good value, I'm just saying it isn't unlimited.

They use the Vodafone network so you will receive comparable coverage to a Vodafone mobile.

Good question.. will pop them a message on the Facebook and let you know.

Only O2 customers in our household.. and signal is patchy enough with O2 at times.

Our street / estate is a complete black-hole for mobile networks.

Fair enough unlimited offers generally have acceptable usage policies but there's isn't really unlimited.. I've the meteor unlimited tarrif (more expensive) but I'm on 45,000 mins + texts..

Still tho, for the price its a very good offer.

Got a bit too excited there, I thought they had almost nailed it. its either 250 mins or upto 600 texts not both. they also take the €18 at the end of the month if you havent used it...
. A combination of calls and texts can be used according to the following formula – Each topup of €18 provides an Eligible Customer with 250 JUST points. 1 JUST point is equal to 1 call minute or 2.4 texts

Acceptable usage policy or not, an unlimited offer which limits you to 8.3 minutes talk time per day (and thats assuming you send no texts), should never be called unlimited in the first place. Still though, I guess the data add-on will make this a reasonable offer to many.

Lads nobody mentioned "Unlimited" so don't know why you are comparing this to an Unlimited plan. I should have put PAYG in the title.

Hmmm should of known there would be a catch. That makes things very complicated. It's best to check with JustMobile too if you can get the Free Data on top of this offer. I've a feeling they might say the Data isn't available on this Plan.

I'm with meteor sim only billpay smart lite something. 30 day rolling contract.
Free meteor to meteor calls and texts, or free any network texts.
    200 any network minutes.
    200 any network texts.
    1gb data allowance.
All for the princely sum of €25 per month.

Was on Meteor for a while a few years back.. and found their coverage shocking.

Might pick up a sim and see if it's improved.

    350 flexi units
1 free add-ons (free landline calls)

It was offered to me when I signed up the other week. Maybe the girl was wrong, or maybe I was only half listening as I wasn't taking that option, but I'm fairly sure the offer was made.

quick question guys i hope you dont mind. I signed up to meteor bill pay smart lite at 30 euro a month, but it has now been changed to 25 euro a month if u sign up online, can i cancel my plan and re-sign up to the 25 euro offer or where do i stand, thank you in advance

Losing the unused €18 is deal-breaker for me. At least with Vodafone/O2/Meteor you might have a tenner or so credit left after your month of Free Texts so could last you a few days/weeks. There has often been times where the €20 top up has last me two months. Whereas with Just Mobile, you'll have 0 credit after the month and will have to Top Up.

You would think that a communications company would at least be able to spell " tariffs" correctly on it's website. tut. tut.!!

You'd think someone so pedantic would realise that spelling a word wrong has nothing to do with grammar, and that they'd also know that you should capitalise the first letter of the first word following a full stop! Not to mention putting an exclamation mark after a full stop!

    Oh the humanity!

That's odd, I have always found my Meteor coverage far superior to O2 and three, though perhaps not vodafone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭hollands

Well Soarer, if we are discussing being pedantic, it is perfectly reasonable to include spelling within the general embrace of grammar and if you delve a little further, the exclamation 'tut tut' is acceptable in lower case, even after a full stop. And yes, you are right, my full stop should have been after the exclamation mark.
However, you obviously chose to ignore the point that a supposedly professional website, presumably proof read before being launched, would have a basic error of 'tarriffs'.
    Humanity my a**

    Did you look at 3 - 3PAY?

I top up by 20 a month. This gives me unlimited texts to any network and unlimited weekend calls (FUP I think is 3000 texts and 3000 mins)
This actually tops me up €22 (€2 free) and I signed up to the deal where if I topup by €20, I get a free €10 the following month.

I buy the 500MB data package for €5 a month.

FYI - This deal has been reduced againn to €20 per month. I signed up when it was €25pm, my wife signed up subsequently and got it for €20. I called Meteor and explained that she got it for €20 and they reduced my tariff.

Plus, it's not mentioned on the Meteor website.

Absolutley, I went on to double check her allowance on the website, and as soon as I mentioned it when I called 1905 they agreed and moved me to the €20pm deal. My allowance remains the same.

I know there was a post in BA about this a while back and it turned out to be unavailable with the 1GB but its definitily there now.

    Thanks for all the info.

Just rang 1905 there, and they didnt' know anything about it!:( They only know the €20 per month without data offer.
    Must do some more research.

I think they're chancers to be honest. I bet if you walk into a meteor shop and pretend your a new customer they'll offer it to you. I'll give you my number if you want, let on that a mate of yours has the deal, see what they say then because we're both definitly on €20 pm with 200 mins, 200 txts and 1gb.

Just to clarify, 'all you can eat' is about 15GB of internet! There's no way in hell I'd use all that, but it's a nice bonus to have especially for those times when you need to tether! All for the princely sum of 30 euro :D

Not missing anything. Thats it! I find it great.

One thing is that you can't use the free credit to buy data.

What I do is buy my data and then when my free texts are up, I use cabbage and use all my free webtexts. So I don't really start using my credit until a month and a half after I top up.

S0C, the Three All you can Eat is not limited to 15GB a month. Their TOS allow you to go over that without being charged.

You'll probably be throttled or something, but not charged.

Anyone know if JustMobile offer PAYG data? I can't find that kind of deal on their site, just the €18/mo deal.

Back on topic, I have been looking to change phone company for ages now so this is a very useful thread. I was going to move to 3 but my brother had awful trouble with them. He cancelled his bill phone with them after about a month.

I wouldn't go any where near 3. I had a phone and mobile broadband with them a few years ago and they were awful. I was always loosing coverage, the broadband was super slow and there customer service was useless. I was always being charged extra for calls that I never made & I had a lot of trouble cancelling.

I find meteor the best but I'm in Dublin I don't know how great their coverage is everywhere else and they were cheap before everyone else started to do deals and then they got even cheaper.

Sorry, didn't read the rest of your discussion about it. Might go to a shop and see if I can blague it, if they claim not to know about it. Interesting that there seems to be a bit of discrepancy amongst meteor's offers lately.

    Cheers for the heads up.

Funny that. I was with 3 for 3 years and had absolutely no problems. Top of the range 3g phone available at little or no cost. And an upgrade every 12 months. And you can use 50% of you monthly minutes to ring UK. No problems with CS, once my brain tuned in the Indian accent:)
