hey people. i've just moved to galway and i'm looking for a new chiropractor, but, there used to be a gp back home who also provided back cracking and i was wondering if there was a similar gp in galway so i could use a medical card

    Welcome to boards :)

Karl Prendergast is supposed to be good, not sure about the medical card though. Ring and ask him.
Brian Johnson, same deal. Ring and ask.

+1 for Karl. He's an Osteopath with a private practice, so fairly sure he doesn't do med card. You could ask about sliding scale though.

And he's not one of those 'come back every week for a hundred years' people at ALL. Lots of athletes use him.

Brian Johnson has moved to Australia as far as I know. The other guy in City Chiropractic is good too though. No idea if they take medical cards there.

www.knocknacarramedicalcentre.ie has both GP and chiropractor services so could take medical cards.

I've heard of it too :D
My Aunt's GP did some extra Chiro training and would 'pop' her if she was in and needed it on a reg visit. Lol! She wasn't med card but some of his patients were.

TBH I'd way prefer those who specialise and have both medical AND a lot of specialised education in the field. Again yer man Karl is an Osteopath, and is the biz. Plenty of ripoff merchants with low qualifications around, so ask for recommendations. If they request you book a 'series of sessions' on day one, RUN away.

I think Chiropractic is considered an alternative form of treatment and not really fully recognised by the medical profession. Chiropractors have made claims that everything is spine related without any prove. Some of them can be quacks even though I do think problems the spine can be related to a lot of other alments.

A point to note is that while some Osteopaths do Chiropractic work, most Chiropractors do not have the qualifications of an Osteopath.

Anyway, I don't care if it was the tooth fairy that helped me personally, once it works, and it did. ;)
