    Hello,
I recently had a run in with a car and in the crash the forks of my vintage bike were wrote off. The forks in question are Columbus " Foderi Lamnati " forks from a good few years ago. These forks were top of the line back then and i'm looking to see if anybody has any there willing to sell as I really want to keep the character of the bike.
    Thanks,
    Jason.

    Ps. I'm living in waterford.

I have a set of white steel forks from a 1980's Raleigh you can have for €15 if you can collect them from Dublin.

Dave could you send me a photo of those forks as they may work.
    Thanks,
    Jason.

I have a few sets of old forks, are you looking for racing forks, sloping crown, threaded headset etc?

I am idealy looking for forks exactly like my own with a threaded headset (the like of the ones used on top of the line pinarello bikes) or better ones (it dosent have to say anything on it other than columbus ;)).

The nicest ones I could find on ebay are these ones. A little pricey, but new....

Hi Jason, sorry about the delay. I have lost the connection for my camera, so can't get them up, but they're in worse condition than I remember, rusting on the steerer tube and general grubbiness... You're welcome to have them if you like; they're fine for use, but I couldn't ask for money for them!

    Hi Jason,

Sorry for the dealy too, I know I have a pair of blue columbus racing forks with sloping crown, but I'll have to get back to you Sunday night as I am real busy.

    Hi Jason,

I have 2 old forks, one chrome Columbus forks with a 19cm threaded steerer and a white sloping crown pair with 25cm non threaded steerer.

Thanks for the replys, thoses blue coloumbus forks sound absoutly perfect, where abouts do you live and how much do you want for them (I won't have any money untill two weekes time and then after that i'll be grand for money).
Dave if i'm ever in dublin i'll give you a shout and i'll get those forks of you (never know when i'll find another car!) but i'll definitely give you something.
    Thanks again,
    Jason.

    Hi Jason,

I have 2 old forks, one chrome Columbus forks with a 19cm threaded steerer and a white sloping crown pair with 25cm non threaded steerer.

If Jason doesn't want the chrome Columbus, I might be interested in them. Would you have any pics of them?

I'll get some pics up tonight, I might have 3 sets of old forks, chrome, white and blue. Thay are all racing forks with sloping crowns.

I idealy want the chromed ones (as thats what was on the bike) but whatever suits the bike best (whichever are most like the old ones). How much do you want for the forks (could you price each one).
    Thanks a mil,
    Jason.

Hi, the chrome ones have only a 19cm steering column on it so check that first. Also the trouble with old chromed forks is they go rusty so they might need to be chromed again.

I see you are in waterford, I don't know when I'll be down that way again but I could give the forks to someone from comeragh CC at one of the races? €20 is all I'd want for the forks.

Don't worry about the rust because at 20 euro who can complain! I'll check out the dimensions of the forks tonight and i'll get back to you tomorow. Do you know Ciaran Power (he is in the CCC) if you could get somebody to give them to him that would be fantastic, I don't know how i'll get you the money though, any suggestions?
    Jason.

Yes I know Ciaran well, I could give the forks to Lavery or Robin maybe at one of the races and you could pay me through Paypal? or maybe pay whoever I give the forks to. Check your dimensions later and I'll get some photos too. The chrome forks are nice as they have the Columbus dove symbol stamped into the crown of the fork and they still have the original stickers on the sides saying "Forcella Originale".

Here's a pic of the forks, did you measure the steerer length?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,150 ✭✭✭kumate_champ07

Ive some new chrome forks, sloping crown, minimum rake, no eyelets, very similar to your original forks. Tange tubing, not sure which kind but its very light. the steerer is uncut
I'd be looking for 50 since they are brand new and go for alot more on ebay.

rechroming forks usually works out more expensive than buying new chrome forks!

I can also remove and refit the crown race or fit a a new headset. more than likely you would need a new headset as the Tange forks crown race is JIS 27mm, Italian is most likely 26.4mm.

    kumate_champ07,
Sorry for the late reply. If the forks from columbus_66 don't fit i'll take you up on your offer. I should be meeting with him next week, so i'll contact you after that.
    Jason.
