Arrears list

My club operates an Arrears list. If you pull out of a competition late, that is after 4:30 on the Friday before the weekend competition, then you are fined. You cannot win a competition until you pay the fine (As a new member I found this out the hard way) I was playing in a foursomes competition and when my partner pulled out late I tried to change to a different time in order to remain in the competion, when I could not get a suitable time I took my name off the sheet, leaving the other two guys with no one to mark their cards, I should have know better and played in order to mark their card.

Any way I was wondering if any other clubs employ a similar scheme to deter no shows. I think it is certainly a good way to combat it.

My club is introducing a similar policy, proper order too. I know that Co. Louth has a policy that if you're late or a no show you are prohibited from entering the next competition/s.

Our timesheet locks at midnight the night before. Turn up & pay or don't and get fined. It's €30 and you have 10 days to pay it, otherwise you're gone out of the database and can't book golf. Keep acting the bollocks and you're banned from playing competitions.

Ours locks at 9.00 the night before, I like the idea of the €30 fine, it's enough to make you think twice.

I'd imagine that 9:00 the night before is probably the sweet spot.

4:30 on the Friday before the weekend competition is a bit much, I mean a lot can happen in between - but midnight is probably a little too late.

In my club you lodge money in your account you can't book yourself into the comp if you don't have money in your account, you then have till 12.00 sat if you want to take your name off,if you don't take it of before 12.00 you lose your money.
