    Minimum wage

The current recommendation is the minimum wage but the old recommendation was for more. I think it was around €430 per week before tax, for those post PPC II. It was only changed in 2010 I believe.

Sorry misread your post! It is minimum wage now. Got the new list off the law society if you want it - it details payments at all stages

I dont know if there is a link, I couldnt find it so I emailed. It says the bit abour minimum wage whilw in the office and then:

    Professional Practice Course I
While attending this course, there is no obligation to pay a trainee who has not worked in the office prior to commencing PPC I. For those trainees who have worked in the office the National Minimum Wage Act provides
that they must be paid while attending this Course. From 01/02/2011 the prescribed rates are as follows:

Where the trainee has not been employed before his training period and is in his first year (80% of the national minimum wage)
    6.12 x 30 hours = 183.60 per week

Where the trainee has been employed before and the Training Solicitor does not pay the PPC I fee (full minimum wage)
    7.65 x 30 = 229.50 per week

Where the PPC I Course fee is paid by the training solicitor (75% of minimum wage for first third of the course, 80% for second and 90% for the final portion).
    First 9 weeks -
    5.74 x 30 = 172.20 per week.
    Second 9 weeks - 6.12 x 30 = 183.60 per week.
    Final 10 weeks - 6.89 x 30 = 206.70 per week.

    Professional Practice Course II
Under the National Minimum Wage Act, trainees must be paid while attending this course. . From 01/02/2011 the prescribed rates are as follows:

Where the trainee has not been employed before his training period and is in his second year (90% of the national minimum wage)
    6.89 x 26 = 179.14 per week.

Where the apprentice has been employed before and the training solicitor does not pay the PPC II fee (full minimum wage)
    7.65 x 26 = 198.80 per week

Where the PPC II Course fee is paid by the training solicitor (75% of minimum wage for first third of the course, 80% for second and 90% for the final portion).
    First 4 weeks -
    5.74 x 26 = 149.24 per week.
    Second 4 weeks - 6.12 x 26 = 159.12 per week.
    Final portion - 6.89 x 26 = 179.14 per week.
