Hey guys, I was not driving for the last few months so let my insurance policy lapse for the first time in years. I'm just after insuring my car online with a different company. The policy covers starts immediately and I have a policy number. Can I start driving again right away or do I have to wait for all the documents to come in the post?

No problem, just be sure you have the policy no. with you untill you get the disc, just incase you're stopped.

The law allows you to drive without displaying an insurance disc for the first 10 days of getting the policy. As others have said just keep the policy info to hand for convenience.

Just a follow up on this. I need to send them proof of 2 years no claims. These 2 years were with two different companies. Will I need to get proof from both or just the last one I was insured with?

The last company's letter should do. It is usually on the letter from the last one you were with anyway.
