I think a top of the range M4 would run you at least a grand.

top of the range M4 would be a nice Systema PTW... €2,500 give or take!

£300 isnt really top of the range.... However, it can get you a lot of good ones...

    G&G,
G&P series, nearly all of them are sub 300, untill you go after models with lots of bolt on crap and funky railz.
    CA
    ICS

I'd most recomend g&p myself, lovely guns, amazing build quality, lovely internals. Great blasters.

and dont be daft vinny :P PTW's are only around €1200.... 2500? Farkin ell, I'd buy a real one for that >> Plus, ptws are NOT top of the range, just... different range. Its a professional training tool, and a lot of 'airsoft' brands out range and out perform them easily.

What are you looking for? I find that quite a lot of people forget that in terms of 'high end' gear, that there are two distinct camps; externals and internals.

In a lot of the gear, more money goes into the External quality, and getting it closer to 1:1 ratio with RS e.g. Systema PTW's.

Other brands put stock into getting more out of their internals - a good example being, as Firekitten said, G&P. When they work, they REALLY work...they are some seriously well tuned pieces of kit.

Personally I care more about externals...but I'm vain :P. So what happens is I will tend to buy something based on look and feel, and then spend time (and usually money) upgrading it for performance.

Sooo...what are you looking for, looks, performance, or best of both worlds?

thanks for the responses but i have decided to buy a g&g raider instead

Inari: G&P are one of the most realistic externally, for aegs anyway short of systema... best of both world :)

Air assault.... Well I'm sorry you went down that path. Not what I'd consider a high end m4.... but its your choice. Seems as though this topic was a little futile.

Is it me, or is g&g raider an over used phrase on here these days? I hardly hear talk of them in the uk >> Ireland seems to love them, did someone get a special deal on a batch?

@Firekitten: Aye, G&P have great internals and externals :)

The G&G Raider is a nice gun, but I do prefer a more...weighty rifle; G&G Raider is a little too light - but some see that as an advantage.

It's the new budget gun of choice really. It has good performance and a surprising rate of fire out-of-the-box. The disdain plastic body M4's usually receive isn't really applied to them because, well, they're good quality. It's not like a CA or old JG plastic M4/15/416 body which was blatantly obvious.

I agree though. I like a bit more substance and weight in my rifle, but it's hard to beat that gearbox for that price (though I don't get the appeal of EBB mechs in rifles at all). If you're getting your first rifle and you have €300 to spend, the saving on a Raider can be put toward essential accessories like mags, eye protection and boots.

People do talk a lot about the Raider, but then people talked a lot about the JG G36c not long ago too. When the clone debacle kicked in and G36c supplies were almost non-existent, G&G's plastica/popular range reared it's head and it's been surfing a wave of customer popularity, good reviews and good pricing ever since. It's not undeserved attention or praise, it's just more noticable now that they basically lead the way in the budget category with that rifle.
