I was wondering if anybody can tell me what forms of income are taken into account when being means tested for the student grant.

Is rent allowance counted? One parent Family payments?

Also are savings taken into account?

    Many thanks :)

If the parents are on rent allowance and lone parents then it is taken into account. if the student is on rent allowance and lone parents it is NOT taken into account.
savings are not counted but the interest on savings is counted.

if i live with my mum, but am still in contact with my dad, do i list them both ? or just my mum as she is my primary parent?

Do i have to put down both of their income, even though it is my mum who is financially responsible for me?

iv been living in my own place since i was 19, im 22 now and unemployed i want to go to college next year but because im not 23 before jan 11 im told my grant is going to be based on my parents income is this true?

i will be 23 when the student year begins, im 23 in july.

this is a bit of a joke in all fairness 22 years of age and they judge you of your parents income, im on social welfare and currently getting rent allowance i dont see why i should be based of my parents income , iv been working and living on my own for years and dont rely on money from parents so is there a way around this?

and potentially how much would i lose out on?
