Hey guys, I know you're all bored to tears with these requests but if you can find some patience I'd appreciate some help from those of you in the know. I'm looking into a XC mountain bike and found this online. Is it any good? It seems OK to me. I know it's a no name bike but they get OK reviews online and the components seem very good for the money. I wouldn't be certain though as I'm more of a roadie. What do yiz all think?
    Thanks.
    CB.

PS: I forgot to mention that I'm in Australia so shipping is within Oz.

What's shipping, customs charges going to be?
Where do you go if there's a problem with the bike?
There's loads of second hand deals out there from shops, I'd stick local.
You'd be surprised what your LBS will do for you on price these days.

AFAIK the OP is in Australia and the bike market is a little different out there.

Would it not be worth your while looking for forums which are specific to the Australian scene as they'll be more knowledgeable regarding importing and buying over there?

There was a dude selling them in Limerick for a while. Doesn't anymore - dunno why. The ones I saw had really unusual intricate welding stuff round the bottom bracket and other parts. Can't say that there would be anything inherently wrong with them - I did hear someone say that HASA stood for Heap-A-S***-A but that might only be badge snobbery...

Edit - that carbon/alloy head tube looks like an awful gimmick...

Yea, that carbon crap around the headtube is a gimmick alright but spec-wise it looks OK IMO. Can anyone comment on the specs? Thing is I know little about mountain bikes so I said I'd ask here. Boards is easily the best cycling forum I've come across even if I am on the other side of the world.
BTW I looked at a few reviews re the bike and people are generally happy. Thing is I'm as tight as a duck's arse these days while I look for work but it's like I've lost a leg without a bike.

;) A bit of local knowledge might be required here though if considering alternatives. Came across www.bicycles.net.au/forums via google. No idea what it's like but it seems to be fairly active and up-to-date and has an MTB section.

I think I'll buy. I'm only a snob when it comes to road bikes after all;-) . Reviews seem good with no dire warnings. I think it's unbeatable value component wise if it works out. I'll post it to images of beauty in due course.

Not sure I would call Hasa no-name, just not known in Ireland. I am 99% sure I met someone with one of their road bikes once, imported directly from Taiwan, and he liked it a lot, and it looked good. I think it may have been the guy I went on a cycling holiday in the Sierra Nevada with.

Looks like a quality bike, it's not like it is an Apollo from Halfords or a "Viking" or "Planet" or what have you.

Marvic rims though? I'm sure it's just a typo but it'd make me wonder, sounds a bit Chinarello-esque.

It's a typo ;-) Bullet bitten, bike bought.
