Parking on or near campus?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm a total noob to this forum!

I have a meeting there someday next week at 11:30. I will be driving up from Cork that morning.

I'm not paricularly worried about how much I have to pay for parking or anything like that.

What I want to know is will I find parking on or near the campus if I arrive by say 11 am?

Or is it like UCC where I might as well give up before I even try driving out to the college (UCC car parks are full at 10 am at the latest) and just park say near Eyre Square and get a bus out?

If it is better to get a bus out, how long would I need to be allowing myself to get from the centre of town to get to the campus?

Lastly, how long will it take me to go from Oranmore over to the campus? I do know what a routeplanner is and I have checked the AA's site but I keep hearing bad things about traffic coming into Galway being dreadful all the time:confused:?

    Thanks in advance.

Well if you want to be on campus for 11, then it should take you about 20 mins from oranmore. Traffic is only really bad up until about half 9 after that you're grand. Parking on campus is via permit if academic staff or student. There are a few pay and display spaces around but they are fairly pricey.

€1.50 per hour or €10 per day, if parking in park & ride car park €1 per hour and €6 per day. There's always space in the park & ride car park but bus times may not work to your advantage.

For a once off meeting I wouldn,t even bother looking on campus. Just go straight to the public parking section in the hospital (UCHG) which is literally accross the road. Ticketed carpark and max per day is 8euro. If you park in town centre carpark its just a 15 min walk to campus.

Thanks people - sounds like parking in the hospital is the way to go then:)!

Try IDA commercial park across from Lisbon Estate. It is a 25 min walk to NUI but plenty spaces for free.

Try the housing estates near the college. Some have pay and display bits but they can be avoided. You can be a 5 min walk from campus.
