    Hi guys,

Ok so I had a little 'accident' with my Celica, so its off the road while sourcing 2nd hand parts(if I can)....so im looking for a replacement...

Budget limit is 3k...as I think this is just going to be something for 6months or so...

I've been looking at a couple MR2's for bout 2-2.5k. What are peoples opinions on them?
Any other siggestions? (keep in mind Im not talking stoopid lookin family cars n what not - I dont ask for much I know!)

Spending €3k on a car you are only going to keep for 6 months doesn't make sense imo. Check out the bangernomics thread, you might find something you like for alot less.

I agree with Bazz for a 6 monther €3000 is unnecessary and potential for not getting the guts of €3000 back doesn't appeal. However a rev3 3SGE engined MR2 is a fine bus and €3000 would get a very very nice one.

    Ha! cheers guys!

Ya perhaps 3k is a bit much for such a short period. Thats not the fact i would be getting the celica back, rather that I plan on being in OZ in 5-6months, but ideally need tog et around before then!

Then sell your car for parts and buy something around the EUR1000 mark.

feck buying a €3000 car so if you intend heading of soon, no need unless you really happen to want an MR2 (which are fine motors), but for a runaround until you head away then a bread and butter spec 90s corolla or carina (since you like toyotas) will almost always be hassle free once looked after and be a lot cheaper

MAX 500 euro banger with tax and test while your car gets sorted.

Iv done it and the car lasted two years before me neglecting it killed it a week before my new old car was ready. (long story of woe but you get the point)

I also have a friend who thought if he bought two of the same car he'd always have one working. That was until he swapped parts over and ended up with two non runners on a number of occasions.
